Just curious, what do you guys think Mississippi State football fans should expect and want from their football program? I am a realist an know how difficult it is playing and recruiting against LSU and Alabama.
Just curious what yalls expectations would be for wins and recruiting year to year for Dan Mullen or whoever is our Head Football Coach.

Was it you, coonass, or both that said this offseason that "MSU's talent level will be on par with LSU and Bama this season"?

I can tell you one thing- it's not that grinding shite y'all pulled week 2.
You dug your own grave.

If I was a state fan, I would classify 8-4 as a very good year, and be happy with 7-5(depending on who you play from the east/their strength) with a bowl game win.
As long as no difficult OOC games are scheduled, it seems very reasonable and acheiveable.
As far as recruiting goes, top 50 seems like a reasonable expectation.
MSU might be able to succeed in a different conf, but too many big boys around.

I think you should expect to be a 6 win or better team 7 out of every 10 years. I think you should expect 7 wins every third year or so, and 8 or 9 wins should be a pleasant year. Mind, I think that slipping below these minimums shouldn't really be tolerated, and even meeting those expectations could and should be undermined if you were to get the short end vs. Ole Miss, but there is no reason you shouldn't be aspiring to be where Kentucky was during the Rich Brooks era's high point.

Depends on whether or not State falls behind Ole Miss in the facilities race.
State is already behind as far as location, although Starkville has improved a lot. And Ole Miss' campus looks nicer as well, although State has nothing to be ashamed of there, either.
But being behind in all three in a small state would be very bad.

It was I. And I stand humbly corrected.

Not saying you guys should leave/I want you to leave, just saying that MSU is hurt by the quality of the schools around them.

Keep in mind they were breaking the rules then.

MSU has the strength to do what they really want to do... but their problem is being in the SECw right this second.
it's extremely difficult for MSU to keep up with the big boys in the SEC in recruiting... and that's that.
past the recruiting, y'all should have ENOUGH resources to be able to be in good bowl games and even SECw contention here and again for sure.
recruiting is the hard thing for y'all.

Coach Jackie Sherrill sold his soul to make the SECCG.
