I was going strictly from where I can get the players to win, and you can win with Ohio players.
If you want to factor weather in, then I'm eliminating OSU as well

I can't put a Florida school in my top 5 because there are still 3 big time programs in the state, and they get pillaged a ton for players from all the SEC/ACC

And yet they got the best hire probably since Urban.
The best job in the sports varies based on who is paying what. The reality is the top 15 are all really close so context matters.

I actually pretty much agree with this list. Obviously could be nitpicky about it but it's pretty solid overall.

Even if you were able to "lock down" your state in recruiting you wont win shite in todays CFB landscape, even Texas. If you want to win at a high level you have to recruit nationally now.
Saban and Alabama have been able to do that. Hopefully the next guy keeps it going.

Id swap Oregon for Oklahoma in the OP but otherwise solid list.
Edit: I'd put Oregon in UMs spot. Drop Okie to 10 and move FSU and ND up one respectively.

They've been upgraded significantly since Bowden left. Put in a new IPF this past year. Its pretty much a arms race between UF and FSU and FSU is winning that obviously with UF just now constructing a IPF. The Swamp needs to be renovated also.

Ehh I kind of disagree. I think the 4 states I have in my top 4 could win titles without leaving the state.
I would be interested to see how many of FSU's 2013 title team was from outside of Florida for example

Michigan's saving grace is it's a national brand so it doesn't neccesarily need to dominate the home turf in recruting but it needs to win the battles in jersey, Maryland and some of the other states in the North.

Alabama and Ohio State do not have a great home state recruiting base.
The top jobs based on Recruiting, Conference and money are the following:
1. USC
2. Texas
3. Florida (should always be top 5)
4. LSU/UGA
5. Texas A&m (Has all three, that is why Sumlin should be questioned)
Alabama would fall in the next 5 due to the SEC and the Money, but the fans expectations drops them down. Ohio St is dependent on a high profile Head Coach. FSU has a great recruiting base, but lacks the money and the Conference. OU is a the bottom of the top 10.

what exactly is a coaching destination? my list is totally different depending on the weighting of criteria.
I mean if we are talking schools where coaches can succeed, yeah Alabama is up there, but if we are talking fanbase or living locale, Alabama isn't in my top 50.

I can't understand all the Michigan support. They have 11 recognized NC's by the CFDW, but only 1 since the Truman administration, and that one was split.

There is no argument that UGA isn't a top 10 job. Fans can talk about our TEAM underachieving and blah blah, but as far as a JOB, of where a coach would look if looking for a new gig, there really is no way around it.

I think the criteria is universally comprised of money the school can offer, and the probability of success.
some coaches cite wanting to live in a particular area, but it is usually when considering two options where the first two criteria are neck and neck.
