You expected a near loss in the first game of the season? That's impressive

This.

What about 2009 Bama without Ingram? 2004 USC without Reggie Bush? UF without Tebow?

Ridiculous argument.

None, we just won the NC. We knew it was going to be a rebuilding year.

Rebuilding year? Rebuilding has nothing to do with making a tackle, turning your head around to find the damn ball or playing 15 yards off of the receivers.

Yeah, but you had no clue that 1 of those wins would take a miracle against Utah St. Everyone needs to realize that AU has gone into "next year" mode, but realistically how often does a 5 win team become an SEC contender in one season. Dont tell it to the AU fanbase. They honestly believe that they can win 5 one season and everything the next. They need to stop blaming everything on Roof and face up to the fact that Chizick was a very successfull D.Coor. Defense was supposed to be his specialty and in his 3 years the AU defense has not improved one bit on the basic fundamental of positioning and tackling. It is so bad that anytime an Auburn player is in the backfield you dont expect him to make the tackle for the loss. You immediately look to see where the next defender is to see if the rb is going to turn the corner. The secondary still has no clue that the ball is even in the air. Man I wish we played them this week.

1. Why is that the case? Recruiting missteps?

You really don't have a grip on this. Most auburn fans readily admit that tubs phoned it in his last year and that has lead to this problem, most rational football fans also realize when young players play they make mistakes but it gives them experience to build off for future season. Which i think is why most are questioning your unfounded future predictions for auburn.

And yes we suck this year.

Not always the case in college football. LSU this year could end up down to 3rd QB and still have chance to win it all.
Agree bringing up Cam is old news, but I think it helps illustrate how much worse the issues might be at Auburn.

Everything you have posted in this thread including the original post is:

GERMANS AS frick!!!

We are tired of hearing the same old shitty flames. Most Auburn fans knew this year would be a struggle and have been saying for months. You are not bringing anything new here so please

GTFO!!!

Yeah but how many AU fans loved him when the streak was at 6 over BAMA? How many AU fans actually believed he was an elite level coach and wouldnt admit that his success at AU was a direct relation to BAMA's probation? Saban exposed Tubbs for what he was. An average coach, so I dont want to hear from those AU fans that beat the Tubberville drum but now want to blame him for the problems.

Only if you are ignorant of the facts and assume Cam is the only piece we lost from last year's team. Go back and tell me about AU's run D last year. How about showing how many yards Lattimore and Ingram had on AU last year?

Things AU misses more than Cam this season, so far:

1. Nick Fairley
2. Josh Bynes
3. Tracy Rocker
4. Zach Clayton and Mike Blanc

The new question I'm trying to get answered is this: do Auburn fans have long term concerns now?
I get the sense that you do not.

College football fans are fickle...in other news water is wet.

Tubbs was a good coach that was too conservative on offense and content to win 8 games a year. He just didn't work hard enough in recruiting towards the end and was loyal to a fault with some of his assistants.

Same question...you can go back to the first page and find your answer. Most of us say no, you want to argue it, but you've also proven to be about as sharp as a marble so redundancy is your one remaining tactic.

You do realize that most successful head coaches who were successful D coaches also have very good D coordinators on their staff to back them up.

Saban & Smart are an example. Muschamp and the guy he brought in could be another one. Jury is still out on that. Chizik failed in the fact that he did not bring in a competent D Co to back him up. A head coach has too many other responsibilities to just coach the D

Yes. Keeping Malzahn for 2 more years when we should be very good and capable of winning the SEC Championship.

Rocker is sorely missed. Pelton may be good, but our guys are just too young on the D-line. Whitaker, Lemonier, and Nosa should be more productive than they have been. They have a good deal of experience from last year. We are just not playing good at all. And I really don't think Roof is the man to fix it. Just my thoughts.

...and some can keep it real. Tubbs is a convienent yet somewhat legitimate excuse but you cant have your cake and eat it too. There are alot of Auburn fans who loved him when it was good and knowing now what we do about him are having to admitt he was a joke.
