Say what you will about the Bear's alcoholism etc., but the man did more to improve race relations in the Deep South than any politician or activist. Inviting an integrated USC team to Legion Field was pure genius.

There's a lot of history being revised for the benfit of Saint Bryant. The truth is that he was one of the most vile and racist assholes ever to walk the earth.

Remember when he got pissed at Forrest Gump for picking up that black girl's book when she was going to enroll at Alabama? That said a lot about Bear's character. Just terrible.

All you've done in this thread is prove you're a racist and attack a great coach for the sake of provocation. You have said nothing you have personal knowledge of. There isn't a shred of evidence Bryant ever uttered a racist word, committed a racist deed, or conspired to stop or slow integration. From every appearance Bryant actively worked from inside his sphere of influence to speed up integration.

Your ad hominem attacks are abhorrent and say far more about you than Bryant. Attacking a great coachs legacy on the anniversery of his death to liken him to the scum of the earth only proves that you are the scum of the earth. I know enough about you to know I would never want to meet, speak, or share air with you. I know enough about Bryant to know he was a great leader of men: honorable, and revered by those closest to him - proof positive you are full of sh*it and YOU the real racist in this dialogue.

he coached a really long time and lied to kids so they would ride the bench at bama so long as they weren't playing for anyone else.

Mission Accomplished
Oh and one last time:

Card-boy, help me understand ... you are proud of fabricating stories about a long-dead man's character? ...a man who's life and accomplishments you did not research? You are proud that the fantastic lies in your posts were shown by many others to be completely false? And you are so proud of being shown to be a liar that you post "mission accomplished?"

Help me understand ... just what kind of person are you?

Suppose you tell all of us exactly what your "mission" was and how you accomplished it. Please explain why you are so proud to have been publically shown to be a liar? Exactly what did you add to the world with your ongoing screed?

People like Coach Bryant would take one look at card-boy (and those two loser "LSU fans") look straight through him and dismiss him as a wanna-be can't-do mom's-basement failure.

Congratulations Card-boy, your character is clear ... mission accomplished.

I shouldn't have to explain this, but the mission of the Rant is to sling mud and shite at each other.

No one but Les's wife is exempt from this. Not the president, not the commissioner of the SEC, not even the "great" Bear Bryant. We come here to make people in other fanbases upset. That is the point of the Rant. To that point I succeeded in this thread.

With that said, I admitted I was wrong about calling him a racist. I apologized when I was proven wrong, and I edited the post where I made the claim. All of that is FAR beyond any expected standard of behavior on this forum.

What I am standing by, and that no one one in this thread has disproved, is that the Bear was a giant bully who succeeded by using tactics that simply would not be acceptable today. I personally think Nick Saban is a much better coach because he succeeds within a modern game where you just can't bully the players to near death. I think if the Bear coached in the modern era given our rules and sensibilities he would at best be a marginal coach and at worst would have been excommunicated from the profession for player abuse.

Your mistake, well one of your mistakes, is even thinking for a second that you could engage in a conversation about a controversial figure like the Bear on this forum and expect the "bubble of respect" he is given by default in your IRL group of older fans. There is no such thing here, there is nothing that is sacred. Things are what they are, and the point of the Rant is for us to call it as we see it.

You are upset because I was talking bad about the Bear, but I promise you I could tear down almost every historical figure you admire in the same context. Someone else on here could talk down the people I love, and for example say that Drew Brees is a shithead. I would take that in stride because I understand the rules of the Rant. I suggest you do the same.

Let me make sure I've got this right....
Coach Bryant was successful because he bullied his players, AND he wouldn't be anything more than just a marginal coach in today's game....that's about it, right?

This'll go a long way in determining the degree of seriousness in which to consider your opinion in the future...you've been very helpful.

Kinda. My point was Nick Saban should be considered the better coach because the way Bear coached simply would be unacceptable given modern sensibilities. Bear would be a marginal coach because his tactics wouldn't allow him to have a steady career in the modern game. That is my point.

I mean, Bear won a ton of titles so only a moron would argue within his era he sucked. What I am saying is I have very little respect for that era or his legacy given what someone like Nick can do without being a bully to players.

bullshite, you will make up your mind after this stupid thread that I am a degenerate at best or pond scum at the worst. Nothing I could say can change that and frankly I don't care because I LIKE modern football. I don't care about an era when the biggest and nastiest players on the field (almost) always won, nor will I respect a coach that is highly regarded due to the accomplishments achieved in that era. Nick Saban is the best coach of all-time period.

Well Card-boy, you have been exposed as a villain who fabricates calumny about a long dead coach. You then admit openly that it is your intent to lie and spread falsehoods... and that you are proud of it.

Then you continue with more lies about "bullying" without ever quoting any of the Junction Boys who's testimony about Coach Bryant can be readily found. And when it is, you are exposed yet again as a punk liar.

Then you claim to know he could not coach a lick, knew nothing about the technical side of football, couldn't even get a job in today's world... This again is a statement that is so patently foolish that even the Coach Bryant haters must roll their eyes.

Lets sum up your personal qualities that have now revealed... ie: your character. You admit your goal is lying, making up complete undocumented fantasies, and poisoning the well to try to destroy the reputation of a dead man held in high regard by many. You demonstrate your "character" by continuing ever more fanciful calumnies. And you finish by demonstrating a complete ignorance of football history or knowledge.

We all now know just what kind of person you are and how to judge you. I just wonder how you can look in the mirror. If this is what you think constitutes an "accomplishment" I think youu may be going to have a tough road in life once daddy's money is finished. No need to respond... you are fully defined now. Thanks for being honest about your "character." Ciao
