The man is the reason the south started allowing black athletes on their teams..

This is categorically untrue. The ESPN 30 for 30 made it seem that way, but it isn't true. Tennessee, Vandy and Kentucky all had black athletes for several years before the other schools, including Alabama. The USC game with Sam Cunningham might have changed the landscape at Alabama, but it was already changed at other schools.

Just FYI you need to be careful saying that kind of shite to an Aggie. You might have one of us take you up on it.

No hate here.......

Respect to the GOAT. Even this Bulldog knows that.

I still believe Bear's overall body of work is superior to Saban.

I acknowledge he was one of the 3 or 4 greatest college coaches of all time, and possibly the greatest. However, I don't think he ever wore a hounds tooth hat. Like this pic here, they might have resembled that pattern, but does anyone actually have a picture of him in a hounds tooth hat?

That hat is dumb. Jussayin

and this comes from a fan who's school end zone looks exactly the same but yellow. That field reminds me of an old pattern on a dog food bag.

Is it that hard to believe he was told "no" back when Rupp was coaching at Kentucky?

This reminds me of the story he'd tell about the time his 1950 Kentucky team finished #7 and beat #1 Oklahoma (broke their 31 game win streak) in their bowl game.
They had the all sports banquet and presented him with a gold watch....then they presented to Coach Rupp (had won the nat'l basketball championship) a gold colored Cadillac. He said, "I realized at that moment that it was time for me to move on."

I rather be a South Carolina fan and have our lack of football success than be from Alabama and cheer for what is associated with that team/state.

Nice justification and acceptance of your program's predestined also-ran status.

Best coach ever at 3 SEC schools (two charter members and an addition).

Four. This is one you should know, actually. He coached under Red Sanders at Vandy for two years. In 1940, right before the UK game, Sanders came down with abdominal pains and checked himself into a hospital, where they determined he needed an appendectomy. So Bear Bryant took over as acting head coach against UK (who was favored) and coached them to a 7-7 tie with UK.

Obscure bit of SEC historical trivia.

Besides an Alabama fan who really gives a frick? He was a great coach but so are a lot of other coaches. No one is the greatest coach of all time because you cannot determine such a thing. It's all a matter of OPINION.
