That was actually an article in the Birmingham News by John Archibald.

Sounds like a comment from a guy who grew up with Depression era dirt farmers and felt more connection with poor black kids from the Black Belt than middle and upper class white kids from the Birmingham and Montgomery country clubs.

Fair enough.

What do they get out of trying to tear down the legacy of one of the most successful coaches of all time? A lot of grief from Bama fans that take all this way too seriously, that's what.

Ok, well, to use your words, "prove it"

Sounds like a racist comment to me.

Well then you're an idiot. Thirty years ago and back the vast majority of blacks weren't educated, had a substandard living environment, had low paying jobs, or none at all, and came from single parent homes. Most folks of even average intelligence would call that having "nothing to go back to".

Better yet, why don't you read Bryant's book which was largely penned in the early 70s and see what he had to say? Oh never mind... card-boy is just another bitter representative of LSU which does not flatter the fan-base.

Jack, you are one of the most generally dumb people on this board. Your hatred and obsession with LSU is weird. The guy has repeated 10 times that he's an A&M fan.

LSU beat Bama that year, Bryant retired so is it safe to assume LSU made him quit

What do they get out of supporting Bear's version of his legacy? Well they get to hitch part of their personal brand to a very successful coach, plus they get the respect and admiration of Bama fans who want to believe.

They have all made a name for themselves since he died. They don't need to keep attaching their name to his legacy.

He said he wanted to be the Branch Rickey of college football when he was at Kentucky. Rickey helped integrate MLB.

I remember they interrupted our class to make the announcement that he died. We prayed the rosary for him (Catholic school obviously).

No, we wouldn't ... which is why we haven't.

But we get why there are so many people in Alabama with missing body parts.

The Bear is still the greatest, but Saban is definitely #2 IMHO these days.

Spurrier is 3rd.

Maybe it is because you are a complete congenital liar and a sorry little mom's-basement internet shite who knows absolutely nothing about Coach Bryant or the history of integration in the SEC.

What is funny is that you associate all that with LSU fans.

I would in a heartbeat but for some reason Islamic stuff is a third rail around here and I don't want a ban without good reason. I will say ISIS is a bunch of pussies and a good chunk of Abu Bakr's version of the Quran seems like bullshite made up by people AFTER Mohammad who wanted to opportunize on his invention of a new kind of religious state.

I rather be a South Carolina fan and have our lack of football success than be from Alabama and cheer for what is associated with that team/state.

That hat is super gay.

But what do they get out of attacking it, even now? Just pain and heartache from an army of White Knights.

I am not saying there is anything to it. They probably are all telling 100% the truth. I already apologized for calling Bear a racist. I am just saying the "Facts" yall tried to use to prove me wrong are anything but.
