If LSU can finish with the #1 D in 2014 and not be elite anymore, than Bamas 3rd ranked D in 2014 must mean Bama isn't elite either.

Their secondary is good, but last year they got gashed up the middle by multiple teams. If their run D doesn't improve drastically, they'll be no higher than 6th.

Our run D improved drastically LAST year…. and we have the same starters at DT and MLB.

Florida - 32 attempts 123 yards 3.84 ypc 1 TD
Kentucky - 27 attempts 71 yards 2.63 ypc 0 TD
Mississippi - 34 attempts 137 yards 4.03 ypc 0 TD
Alabama - 29 attempts 106 yards 3.66 ypc 0 TD
Arkansas - 38 attempts 95 yards 2.50 ypc 2 TD
Texas A&M - 21 attempts 84 yards 4.00 ypc 1 TD

Yes. Welter was a liability.

What do y'all lose on defense?
Out of the starting 11, we lose our best lineman in Flowers, a linebacker, and a corner that was getting beat out starting at the end of the year by a freshman. We might have lost another lineman but the names are fuzzy.

I don't either. But staying the same still means better than 10 SEC teams at least.

Davon Godchaux may not have played, but Kendell Beckwith did.

Either way, they wouldn't have made a difference one way or the other.

Beckwith played in a reserve role as a backup to DJ Welter…. who played so poorly against Auburn that he was benched the following week, which corresponds directly to LSU's rushing yardage allowed dropping by 50%.

2015 Godchaux, LaCoutoure, and Beckwith will destroy Roc Thomas.

Do you realize 6'0, 230 pound Jovon Robinson will be the running back, and not Racean Thomas?

The thought of Kevin Steele trying to stop a Gus Malzahn offense has me laughing. Besides, LSU almost always struggles stopping a running game with Gus Malzahn coaching it. 298 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2014, 213 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2013, 87 yards and 1 touchdown in 2011, 440 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2010, 112 yards in 2009 and 298 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2006.

Is a true freshman playing in his first conference game, and in a road environment, and in LSU's road environment, supposed to frighten me?

I don't think Gus has a Tre Mason, Darren McFadden, or Cam Newton on this year's team… especially if your high school RB is going to be the feature back.

Well, you got off to a bad start with this question.

Try again, maybe?

Also, Gus Malzahn didn't need any guy like that last year when he had Cam Artis-Payne.

Ah. Didn't realize he was JUCO. Maybe lightning will strike twice from those ranks… either way, this guy is going to have almost no time to adjust to the speed of Div I football by the time LSU comes around on the schedule.

I'd hold off on predicting a 200+ rushing game in Week 3.

Defense did it's job for the most part last year. The offense is a different story.

Sorry LSU had a statistically better defense than the tide last year.

Brandon Moseley, Cam Newton, Nick Marshall, Devonte Lambert, Cam Artis-Payne, Duke Williams, Nick Fairley and now Jovon Robinson... Auburn knows how to handle Junior College players.

He's an early enrollee. He will have time to adjust.

I'm just predicting a win for Auburn.

LSU will have no answer for Duke Williams, Jeremy Johnson, Racean Thomas and Jovon Robinson if all stay healthy.
