Yeah LSU has a better secondary and so does UF.

Bama's QB Race
What a letdown. I thought this thread was going to be about how Bama fans hate black quarterbacks.

Who were the elite QBs they faced since 2010 ?
Cam, JFF, Murray (how did they play against them)
I can not think of the better than average QBs they have faced. Maybe Knight, Marshall, Mett or Garcia.
Their secondary has been propped up be the lack of great QB play in the league the last 5 years. When they played a great or better than average QB, they were exposed.
Still waiting for someone to challenge the list of better than average QBs that Bama's secondary has faced since 2010. It is easy to get a reputation of being a great secondary, when you only face a few decent QBs. Your stats can be skewed when mostly playing a soft passing team. What did those better than average QBs do against Bama All-American Secondary ?

Probably the same QBs the rest of the conference has faced.

Doesn't sound like Saban is real happy. Even last year, he never showed any frustration in preseason practice.

First off, thanks for your interest in the program. You can always visit rolltide.com for more information. Second, this time last year there was frustration too. Think we will be OK.

Was listening to a talk radio show last week and they were interviewing a Bama sports guy(can't remember his name)and he said the QB performance so far has been terrible.
Now I know the season has not started yet but what I find so funny is the fact that actually LSU is in better shape at QB than Bama is, yet everyone is so freaking high on Bama. They have more question marks about their team then we do. Just saying.

Both were good against the run, but questionable against the pass. It was never exposed because of the QBs in the league. Hell, Dre had two career Interceptions.
INTs are not the be all, end all stat for DBs...Gerod Holliman led the NCAA in picks with 14 last year and was the Thorpe award winner...he was drafted in the 7th round. And CBs that are questionable against the pass in their collegiate career don't get drafted in the 1st round by NFL teams...
And Dre had 3 career INTs, but that's beside the point...he also had the same number of career (college) pass deflections/passes broken up (19) as Darelle Revis...and Revis wasn't exactly playing against future stellar NFL quality QBs when he was in college either...and no, I'm not saying Dre is at Revis's level as a CB, he's not...

Here are some of the stats against SEC QBs that in anyway could be considered average to above average passers since 2010:
Garcia 17/20 201 yards 3 TDs
Newton 13/20 216 yards 3 TDs
Manziel 52/70 717 yards 7 TDs
Murray 18/33 265 yards 1 TDs
Dak 27/48 290 yards 2 TDs
Wallace 35/62 410 yards 3 TDs (Good and Bad Bo)
Marshall 38/59 553 yards 5 TDs
Am I missing anyone ?
Most of these were either close games or losses, so no cheap yardage.

So that means all SEC secondaries have been propped up in the last 5 years, not just Bama's...so I'm guessin' you also think guys like VH3, along with LSU's multiple highly regarded/drafted CBs and Safeties, are/were also overrated because of the lack of great QB play in the SEC...

It can only be one or the other unless it's Alabama. Then, it's the 'Bama bump in recruiting, easy schedule, lucky breaks, and mulligans. Alabama lucked its way to 84 wins the last 7 years.

How did they do against the QBs listed ? Bama's schedule has avoided many of the better QBs in the league over the last 5 years. But the truth is there has not been many good QBs that have come through the SEC the last few years. Some great ones, but they were few and far between.

After all these years you should have grown accustomed to Bama/Saban & Co. consistantly putting a quality product on the field. Year in and year out it's a given that Bama will be in the championship discussion.
Is there a program in the entire conference that wouldn't trade their W-L record the last 8 yrs with Alabama's?
