I think Gus's biggest problem is Gus. He seems to be too proud to bring in a coach to help with the O and then let him coach.

Don't know if that makes sense but it seems like a pride thing to me.

You do realize that since Malzahn has taken over, our recruiting on defense and offensive depth has been its best since Tuberville's glory years right?

With the highly recruited players AU folks claim they have, why have they finished 87th, 66th, and 71st the last three years on defense? 94th on offense last year?

Could it be shitty coaching?

This is the first time our across the board recruiting has been this good. We just can't find a QB

So, Auburn must-have an all-SEC/all-American-type QB to be successful? Isn't that the case with all teams (with the exception being Alabama, who seems to win with or without an above-average QB)?

Auburn won the Natty because they had the best player in the country that year. No way they would have come back against Bama - no way they would have won 3 of those games that year. Same with Marshall - they won so many games in 2013 that easily could have lost without out-of-this-world great QB play.

Can they not succeed with a typical game-management-type QB? Do they absolutely MUST have a game changer to succeed? To outscore everyone because they can't stop anyone?

Did Gus not get AU back in the National championship shortly after 2010 with another QB who was converted from a DB?

Did you forget what it took to get there?

Overcoming Aaron Murray's false TD? Or getting lucky during a tied game vs Alabama?

The Guster screwed up and wrote a book and made a video of his scheme. Everyone knows.

Bad move.

Never has there ever been a more lucky play than the TD pass vs UGA.

And yet got outscored by Lane Kiffin. I heard lots of praise from commentators and analysts during the postseason about an offensive genius in the state of Alabama, but it sure as hell wasn't Gus Malzahn.

Id say scoring a touchstone without even touching the goal line is more lucky than a real touchdown. One actually happened and the other didn't, do the math.

Auburn's offense is truly dangerous when they have a real running threat at QB who can pass just good enough
It is a silly myth that he needs a dual threat QB

When you consider it took a blatant face mask to keep Murray from scoring, and it took a blatant hold for NM to get the pass off, your math is way off.

If we are losing I get tired of it, when we are going to Natty's I like it.

What does that tell us? For one, it tells us that a "gimmicky" system like his gets figured out with time and we can see that it has decreased in performance each year. It also tells us that without an incredible talent at QB the offense will suffer, but you can say that for literally any offense in america.

Our offense was pretty darn good in 2014. Nothing has been "figured out", we just didn't have a QB that could run or throw a forward pass last season or receivers who could catch the ball if they somehow did get an opportunity.

beating Alabama 1 in 3 games is enough for Aubs. They won't admit it but it is on par with their program's history

35 out of 78 = 1/3? Is that Common Core math bama style?

Ellis Johnson is the reason Bama outscored AU. No other team besides AU put that much offense on Smart/Saban. Every Offense put that much on Ellis Johnson.

That team was loaded with 30 other seniors besides Cam....Fairly and Josh Bynes were just as important as Can. They helped produce the #10run D in the country and #1 in the SEC

And still lost by double digits in large part due to them only scoring 2 TDs on 7 red zone trips.

Auburn could get nothing going in the first half. Alabama could was three plays from the score being potentially 42-7 at the half as well. Second half Auburn got more into a rhythm. Cam's second TD pass was also thrown straight to Mark Barron, who could not even raise his arm because of a torn muscle (his last play of the season), and it goes 70 yards for a TD. Sucks, but it happens sometimes (see Ole Miss and A&M's wacky TDs in wins over Bama too). Alabama also out-gained Auburn by over 100 yards.

Alabama again out-gains Auburn by over 100 yards, Cade Foster misses two 44 yard and a 33 yard FG, and because
the staff doesn't trust Foster to kick a 30 yarder we go for it with the worst possible play call Doug Nussmeier could have called. Thank God he's gone.

And it still took a crazy TD for Auburn to win.

Auburn finally out-gains Alabama again, but still loses by double digits because Auburn kicked 4 Field goals on 7 Red Zone trips. Another RZ trip ended in Turnover on Downs. One of the two TDs came when Auburn was down 19 with 0:20 left. Alabama scored 5 TDs on 5 RZ trips.

Shout out to Malzhan's 2011 and 2015 offenses that put up a whopping 1 TD and 2 FGs combined on Alabama. Give him a life time contract for all I care.
