Aren't you Auburn folks getting tired of the gimmicky junk Malzahn does?

How long will it take Jay Jacobs to realize that Malzahn's style of play and recruiting lacks consistency and ability to recruit well across the board. Ever since 2010, Auburn has been all offense and no defense, and frankly, it's kind of sad. He got to 2 national championship games as a coordinator and HC respectively. However, it took a super bowl winning, I mean, participating QB and another coach's players to do it.
Do you guys not miss the mid 2000s Tuberville years? He would've never allowed a running back to get 45 carries in a game for 250 something yards.

Offense is nearly unstoppable with the right pieces.
Defense leaves too much to be desired though, IMO.

I disagree. The year Malzahn left and Chizik went LSU/Bama pro-style, Auburn was atrocious and went 3-9

Cam was in the NFL in 2013.

you can say that about literally any offensive or defensive scheme

Gustav has proven he knows how to win at the highest level with his offense.
The difference is coaching and scheme. Georgia has an embarrassment of riches offensively and hasn't sniffed a National Championship.

that has nothing to do wiht the topic, not sure why you took my comment personally.
AU won the title in 10 because of cam, period. I don't think many would deny that. That had a very successful year in gus's first, and have gotten worse every year since. If the argument is "gus's system is awesome you just need an AA at QB for it to work" then it's not really a good system.

I don't take anything on this website personally.
Did Gus not get AU back in the National championship shortly after 2010 with another QB who was converted from a DB?

Malzahn will be gone after two more seasons. Auburn isn't getting "the right pieces".

All offense? I must have missed that last year.
Gus' main problem is he has only had 1 QB play well for him at AU, and he didn't even have to develop him.

You do realize that since Malzahn has taken over, our recruiting on defense and offensive depth has been its best since Tuberville's glory years right?
This is the first time our across the board recruiting has been this good. We just can't find a QB

he went 12-2 with an SEC title. Richt has had seasons with a better resume than that. I'm not taking anything away from '13 either mind you. But let's look at this factually.
In 2013 they put up 501 YPG and 40 PPg
In 2014 they put up 485 YPg and 35 PPG
In 2015 they put up 370 YPg and 28 PPg
What does that tell us? For one, it tells us that a "gimmicky" system like his gets figured out with time and we can see that it has decreased in performance each year. It also tells us that without an incredible talent at QB the offense will suffer, but you can say that for literally any offense in america.

Oddly enough, a replay of last years UGA-Auburn game just started on the SECN.

watch from 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter to 9.5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. That's realy the only period worth watching in an otherwise boring gmae.

Nick Saban had trouble stopping that gimmicky offense in 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2014.

A swing of 15 yards and 5 points isn't much of a dropoff, especially wehn you lose SEC Off POY + 2 of your best OL
The 2015 stats suggest that we can't recruit and develop a QB. Not that the system is "gimmickY"
Big issue just different

ugh I didn't even want to say "gimmicky", I only did because it was in the title. I even put it in quotes! YOu know what I meant though.

I've gotta run. I'll try and respond to this when I'm able to.
Not necessarily disagreeing with you fwiw. Just trying to be objective. SW & JJ haven't even been average QBs for Auburn. It will be interesting to see what they can do once they have true DT again.

I get that, and I'm mostly just playing devils advocate here. But it seems like with malzahn's offense, it PRIMARILY boils down to "you have to have an elite DT QB to run it otherwise it suffers", which I find disingenuous. Richt's offense looked like a well oiled machine with an Aaron Murray at QB. Not so much with a joe cox or greyson lambert. Every offense is going to be predicated on good QB play.

I was going to stay out of this thread, but...
Across the board would include QB, wouldn't it?
