not really. gus was emptying out the bag of trick plays. but i recall it being the auburn defense that kept them in the game. Held Mark Ingram in check all day. Just forgot about Upchurch

Most offenses out there today could be considered "gimmicky". Pro Style seems to be the norm, but all others could be considered gimmicky. I have no problem running any offense or defense if it gives my team a good chance to win. Gimmicky really should not be looked down upon as something bad. The spread was once referred to as Basketball on grass by one of it's innovators.

When Malzahn's offense is clicking it is very difficult for anybody to stop.

I doubt we could out recruit Saban if we used the same playbook.

It is what it is. If we find a QB who will not kill us throwing the ball who has some running ability, we can compete. If not 6-6, 7-5, etc.

On defense, we should improve some this season. I actually thought last year's defense was a little better over the course of the season.

Fella named Nick Fairley had a little something to do with it too. You and Erin may remember him...

A play-action power running attack, complemented with a strategic passing game. yeah so gimmicky.

At running back, yes. Well, when healthy. Average as frick everywhere else.

Realistically who could they get next year better than Gus?

LSU had that reality at the end of last year. Who could we get at that better than miles?

Gus has done as well as anyone in the West right now since 2012 or whenever he came in other than Saban
It is what it is. You do what you have to, to try and offset the snowball affect coming out of Tuscaloosa.

But objectively speaking some candidates
Bobby P...has shown interest in the past, downside lack of character and unable to beat Bama while at Arkansas, something Gus has done.

Herman? Possibly I guess. Big ? Is will he leave to come to the toughest division in football and would he be worth a damn in big boy football?

Maybe lure a coordinator away? But at this point it's Gus or bust until Saban goes away

There's not very much tricky about a reverse or double move. Or an onside kick, really. Alabama does all of that.

Auburn's offense is truly dangerous when they have a real running threat at QB who can pass just good enough. I believe JF3 can do that. With Jovon Robinson at RB, they will be a force.

DL has tons of potential, but Lawson is injury prone and the others aren't a solid unit. Kevin Steele will do more harm than good IMO.

I live in Atlanta and I swear, it's almost like UGA fans still hate Fairley even more than the most Harvey Updyke-ish Bama fans.

Not to mention that he ripped Auburn a new a-hole over the next 3 years.

All offense? I must have missed that last year. Gus' main problem is he has only had 1 QB play well for him at AU, and he didn't even have to develop him.

If you don't think Nick Marshall played well for him you weren't paying attention.

who do you hang around with? I've never heard a single solitary UGA fan mention fairly aside from this website in about 5 years.

8 wins and beating Alabama 1 in 3 games is enough for Aubs. They won't admit it but it is on par with their program's history
