Fournette is substantially better.

As a prospect? Sure, it's always been that way. As a runner? He was barely better for a short amount of time in 2015 before his production dropped by a good amount.

This just isn't true. I know you think I'm just being an LSU homer, but I'm not. I'm always overly optimistic, so I'm a typical fan in that resoect. But I'm realistic about how good our guys are.

We've been lucky at LSU to have some of the greatest players in the game over the past 10 years. I've recognized those guys very early in their careers. But only three were the undoubted best at their positions. Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu were two. Leonard Fournette is one of those guys. He is far and away the best running back LSU has had in its entire history. He's on Hershal's level, not Chubbs. He was the best back in college football last year by a very wide margin. He'll be the best this year. And barring major injury he will be the best back in the NFL by his second year.

This is to take nothing away from Chubb, who is marvelous. There was probably a couple of great backs in football when Hershal was playing. But Hershal was the best. So is Fournette. I don't really care about statistics; those are for sportswriters and breathless fans. I base these opinions on what I see. And in Fournette I see a back that is clearly better than all others except for a very small number like AP, Bo, Hershal, and Sanders. I rank him toward the bottom of that group but certainly among it.

If stats don't support your opinion, then disregard them? Brilliant strategy by a person who claims to not be a homer.
