Am I off base in the comments below regarding Fournette/Guice vs Chubb/Michel?

I don't quite understand why this debate continues (except for, well, that's what this place is for).

Chubb and Fournette are both elite backs, Michel and Guice have both excelled in secondary roles. I'd probably give Fournette the edge over Chubb and Michel the edge over Guice (as he has had to be "the man" while Guice had not).

Either way, both backfields are stacked and probably the 2 best backfields in the country (assuming Chubb is healthy).

I would definitely think that fully healthy running backs should be ranked behind recovering running backs

Yeah, but some of their reasoning is because LF had more yards combined last year than Chubb & Michel combined, regardless of the fact that Chubb missed 8 games. This doesn't make sense to me.

ETA: I don't give a shite about the ranking. It's just funny that they're all "Oh, LSU should be ranked #1 based on the fact alone that LF had more yards than Chubb & Michel combined"

You mean the comment about Fournette outrushing Chubb, Michel and Herschel Walker last year?

No.

I'm sort of heated about this if you can't tell. The fact that it seems many others there disagree with me makes it worse. I need some unbiased opinions.

I see what you're saying man. He completely disregards the fact that Chubb was injured the majority of the year and acts like it took Chubb and Michel both full years of production to equal Fournette. It's just bias man. It clouds judgment

frick, I'm the most biased fan towards LSU football out there. I guess common sense goes a long ways

No point in worrying about it. Some people refuse to see logic at times.

Tbh I don't think you can know who is better. Only who performed better on a given day, or during a given year. All 4 of those guys are awesome backs. But based on actual production, LF is far and away the best. If not for Henry's outstanding year (which is not a part of this debate), LF is the best single season rusher in SEC history. That is done and in the books. Maybe the other 3 can do the same, but until they do, it is speculation and opinion.

I sort of have an affinity for Guice. He gets his shite knocked out and gets right back up.

Guice is so much fun to watch. I can't wait to see him get the majority of the carries next year.

Yeah, seeing Guice as the main guy will be fun to watch. He deserves it.

I wouldn't be surprised if he runs for more yards than Fournette in 2-3 games.

I'd like to see him get more touches on kick returns this year too. I think he breaks one

He averaged almost 8.6 ypc while Fournette was around 6.8

It's certainly possible. I could see him having more yards from scrimmage than LF7 going into SEC play
