You are good at revisionist history.
There's nothing "revisionist history" about that.
Auburn's 2004 schedule was Charmin soft. Only one SEC West opponent finished with a winning record. The SEC in 2004 sucked arse. That's not up for debate.

Va Tech won the ACC that year.

This is hilarious that they're actually trying to compare the two teams.
Another poster already mentioned it, but it's amazing how great that 2004 Auburn team has become to these guys. Back then, they were kinda upset they got left out, but remembered the mudhole that got stomped into them the previous year by USC. Now, as someone else stated, they're one of the greatest teams of all time apparently.

Quick question for everyone:
Based on schedule difficulty, surely everyone in here thinks 2010 Auburn > 2004 Auburn, correct? I mean, they did play a harder schedule.

I think 2010 Auburn would beat 2004 Auburn relatively easily. 2010 Auburn won a bunch of close games, but they also beat some really, really good teams.

Not only that, it was the first EVER CFB game for Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush and Lendale White. That was a very young, inexperienced and green USC team who was playing in a hostile road environment for the first time and Auburn got crushed.

It's not Auburn's fault that the rest of the SEC West sucked and Bama was a hair away from the death penalty because they were such bad cheaters.
Just looked at 2011 LSU's depth chart and 2004 Auburn would wreck that offense. 2011 LSU wouldn't cross the 50 in that game either. You had good receivers, but the rest of that offense wouldn't have started for 2015 Auburn.
Your defense was very good, but 2004 Auburn offense matches up talent wise and wouldn't have to score much anyway.
Being from 2004 that Auburn defense was built to stop that option that Miles liked to run with JJ. And the offense was masters of keeping the ball away and sitting on a lead.
2004 Auburn- 20
2011 LSU- 0

I disagree, but I commend you on sticking with your agenda.
However, SOS during a season doesn't dictate how great a team is.

There's a reason pretty much the only people here arguing that 2004 Auburn would win are Auburn fans.
Again, that LSU team was one game away from being universally recognized as the greatest team of all time. How can you say that 2004 Auburn team stacks up to that, after playing one of the weakest schedules in the country?
No, it's not Auburn's fault the rest of the SEC sucked - but it does certainly hurt their argument for being one of the best SEC teams of the last 15 years.

Incorrect. Good effort, though.
What exactly are you trying to prove, anyway?

Auburn killed LSU in 2014 and then LSU killed Auburn the very next year.
Past results don't mean anything.

Absolutely agree with this. But it can give us an idea when comparing two teams from different years. In this case, LSU has the benefit of playing one of the toughest schedules CFB has ever seen. They completely embarrassed some of the best teams in the country in 2011.

They also were uninspiring against the top teams they faced that year such as LSU and Virginia Tech. Hell, LSU was destroyed 45-16 against Georgia later that season and lost to Iowa in the bowl game. That should have been a game they won handily instead of needing a missed extra point to win.

It is pretty funny that bammer tards like Tuscaloser keep bringing up schedules. Look at who bammer beat in 2009 and this year. Almost zero teams that were truly elite. Had to rely on tricks like the onside kick against Clemson or injuries like the one to Colt McCioy in 2009 to beat the 1 or 2 truly elite teams that they did face
It's amazing that in a thread about one of Auburn's best football teams of all time, you find a way to try and compare them to Alabama.
Well done, phan. Well done, indeed.

One of the greatest seasons, maybe. Nobody would have mistaked the team with Jordan Jefferson at QB for the best team ever. Not even close

My bad. Bottom line they played two conference champions(not 4), one being from the Big East. We have already debated what bowl wins mean.
