LSU beat the ever living frickshit out of every team not named Alabama in 2011(and still won in tuscaloosa).

They struggled to get past the MSU merlins.

i guess that 2009 bama team was a bunch of chumps. I mean they struggled wayyyyyyyyy more with a Chris Todd led Auburn team.

Chris Todd>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Spencer Pennington.

Let's not forget how Chizik called the most Auburn game imaginable with an onside kick, reverse, and a myriad of other trick plays. That 09 Auburn team would beat the 04 Bama team by more than 04 Auburn did.

Exactly.

The narrative that 2011LSU had a terrible offense is false and is backed up by facts.

The national medias view of 2004 Auburn should be discussed.

The country felt that this team did not deserve to be in the title game. In my opinion, if 2004 Auburn is as great team as claimed by some on here, they have to get in the title game right? Why get left out?

Why did the country and media not see 2004 Auburn as a great team?

Probably because they started the season outside the top-20

The country and media did think Auburn deserved to be in the title game, they just also didn't think the two teams that started the season at 1 & 2 deserved to be bumped from the title game.

2004 Auburn getting left out led to a complete overhaul of the BCS formula. According to the formula from 2006-2013 Auburn would have jumped Oklahoma to play in the title. 2004 Auburn also jump started talk of playoffs and it's arguable that without that Auburn team that CFB would still use the BCS today.

Just pointing out that the LSU defense played West Virginia/Oregon/Arkansas that year. All of them were some of the most explosive offenses that year and all either couldn't move the ball or finish drives against that LSU team.

LSU and Bama defense in 2011 is as close to an NFL defense as you will ever see.

I believe 2004 Auburn could have beat both 2011 LSU and 2011 Bama.

onside kick
Alabama just did that in their biggest game ever, and they might have lost the game without it.

reverse
Auburn runs a lot of reverses. Doing it against Alabama doesn't make them special.

a myriad of other trick plays
Go on, list them.

Why get left out?

Well besides USC and OK being ranked atop the polls from the get go. It was because we played the Citadel. We originally had BGSU on the schedule, but they canceled the game in the off-season prior and rescheduled with....Oklahoma. We were forced to scramble for a backup and put Citadel on there

The media focused on the weak part of the schedule, rather than the strength of it. Again, this is all besides them being ranked from the get go and AU being ranked in the teens.

As also stated by someone else, Auburn being left out was a catalyst for an overhaul of the system.

This might be the most bama post ever.

What sorcery did Tennessee employ to force you into a situation of having to rely on their kicker to be terrible to win that one?

That Tiger team was amazing.

Yes, I was very amazed at the way they navigated that murderers row of a schedule that included a whopping three teams with a winning record. I was especially impressed with they dominated a depleted Alabama team with a third string QB incapable of completing a forward pass from start to finish never having to make a comeback.

2011 LSU puts this game away before halftime.
