Auburn barely beat Virginia Tech that year.

I believe 10 starters on AU Offense were drafted, with most going in early rounds. The D was just as impressive.

2004 lsu beat 2004 auburn because Travis Daniels recovered a fumble at the end of the game. But the refs said he was out of bounds so 2004 lsu couldn't beat 2004 auburn and 2004 refs combined.

AU wins. The AU RBs would be the difference.

2011 LSU D is an all time great.

LSU wins on the D front.

Auburn clinched the SEC west in OCTOBER that year. A bowl game a month later that we didn't give a shite about. Given the all around success of that team and NFL draft picks Auburn 2004 was one of the best teams ever.

It's funny how the legend of the 04 Auburn has grown over time and for no reason. I guess it's all Auburn fans have to hold onto for these hypotheticals. Let's not forget how badly they struggled with a Spencer Pennington led Bama team, along with that LSU 4th down conversion and getting that shitty UT team twice. They are grossly overrated in the annals of history. 11 LSU drags their skull fricked corpses all over the field in this one, Honey Badger with a pick 6 and punt return TD.

All folks seem to remember is the championship game. It's a shame that even a respected poster in TT doesn't know the facts. 2011 LSU scored points on offense, defense and special teams

In what world does that logic make sense.

You'll need to check with your pretend Miami poster for that. She uses it constantly here when searching deep for a way to criticize Bama.

Auburn allowed 11.30 points per game in 2004. LSU allowed 11.28 points per game.

What does that make Auburn's 2004 defense?

I know how good that LSU team was. BUT, like I said, they had one glaring weakness that was exposed against a great defense (Alabama) in 2011...and that was quarterback. Other than Alabama, LSU didn't play anyone near the caliber of defense Auburn fielded in 2004. And that was another one of the all-time great defenses.

LSU's defenses was great in 2011, yes, but Auburn at least had a quarterback that could stretch the field. One that was later drafted in the 1st round of the NFL Draft.

The West in 2004, aside from a 3 loss LSU team was absolutely atrocious. The East besides UGA and UT didn't have a team better than 7-5. 11 LSU beat Bama at home in a game I guarantee 04 Auburn doesn't. 04 Auburn is incredibly overrated, it's laughable actually how that teams stature has grown amongst Barners

2011 LSU. Honey Badger scores more than Auburn's offense.

It is comical that you say the 2004 Iron Bowl was a struggle when Auburn had a double digit lead most of the game

No they didn't. Most of the first half was played on Auburn's side of the field, including one or two AU turnovers deep in their own territory. Alabama just couldn't capitalize because they had to use Pennington (Croyle was hurt) and their 3rd string RB.
