It is comical that you say the 2004 Iron Bowl was a struggle when Auburn had a double digit lead most of the game. Meanwhile the 2009 bammer team was actually behind for the great majority of the Iron Bowl against an Auburn team quarterbacked by Chris Todd. The western division was also garbage in 2009 which is the only reason that bammer team went undefeated
This is a boom worthy post.

There were two teams with less than 4 losses in 2009...and that was Alabama and Florida.

Have you taken a look at the 2004 standings? Only Auburn and LSU had winning records. The West was complete shite. Alabama was shite that year and they finished 3rd with a 6-6 (3-5) record.

God, honey badger was awesome to watch that year.

This! People seem to forget how much of a force this guy was for that team. In the Arky and SEC championship games, when the offense couldn't get going, he goes nuts on special teams and give the whole team a spark. The way he harassed uptempo QBs like Geno Smith and Darren Thomas by tipping up screen passes to himself for pick sixes and stripping almost every ball he could get his hands on. He was always a walking highlight reel and that season was just ridiculous.

Auburn also dominated the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the SEC, Tennessee and Georgia. Someone earlier in the thread called Tennessee garbage that year, but they were a 10-1 team when they didn't play Auburn (who beat them twice).

Either way, the SEC wasn't particularly strong in 2004 nor 2009.

Which leads me to my next point...why does this matter anyways? 2010 Auburn went undefeated when the SEC was arguably as strong as it's ever been, and almost all Auburn fans will tell you 2004 Auburn > 2010 Auburn.

I'm going to go a step further and say not only would 2004 Auburn lose to 2011 LSU, they would lose to every national champion in the BCS/CFB playoff era except 2007 LSU and maybe 2006 Florida since Tubby had CUM's number. I was very unimpressed with the strength of the SEC that year. Also, I vividly remember how much they struggled against Bama in the Iron Bowl. I was thinking to myself "This is the team that is supposed to be one of the two best teams in the country? You've got to be kidding me."

2004 Auburn barely beat 2004 LSU at home. The game wouldn't be close. 2011 LSU would win easily.

2010 Auburn bearly beat 2010 LSU.

Hell, I guess 2010 LSU would also beat 2004 Auburn with this retarded logic.

In 2010 you took a mercy knee. It was a one-score game but we didn't have a chance of winning.

In 2004, you actually missed the game winning EP and got an extra chance because of some BS penalty that only existed for that season.

In my opinion, the two games are not the same.

Really? You're pulling out the "retarded" card for that? Come on man, you're better than this.

One thing still puzzles me about the 2004 game. I knew going in that Saban was going to use different QBs. Yet, Marcus Randall leads the Tigers on a long TD drive to open the game...then Saban sits him until the middle of the 3rd quarter. I don't remember anyone mentioning any kind of injury to Randall. Was there something that I missed?

2011 LSU would beat 2004 Auburn, but I'm sure this thread is pure shite by now.

2004 Auburn played only 4 different teams with winning records.

2011 LSU would demoralize that Auburn squad.

2011 LSU, 2011 Bammer, 2012 Bammer, 2010 Auburn, 2009 Bammer, 2008 Florida, 2004 USC, 2005 Texas would all humiliate 2004 Auburn.

The SEC was pathetic in 2004, and as has been already posted, that Auburn team played only 4 different teams with records better than .500

LSU had the 15th ranked rushing offense in the country.

Points would be had.

LSU was 17 in the country at 35 a game. It's a myth that this team was all Defense.

It's like everyone just watched one game and made their conclusions about the 2011 LSU team. We were 17th in the nation in total offense. We scored 0 points because we went up against the best defense in college football history. That takes a special kind of stupidity to ignore that.

We skull drug some of the best offenses in the nation (Oregon, WV, Arkansas) that year yet you think Jason Campbell would have been the big difference?

LSU 24-Auburn-10
