If this Bama official actually paid Sexton or his family, he will definitely be charged. If he is never charged, that tells you he either did not commit NCAA violations, or the FBI does not think they can prove it (which means the NCAA has zero chance of proving it).
The article states:

The meeting was recorded on audio and video by the cooperating witness referred to in the FBI sting.
I guess we can take him NOT GETTING ARRESTED as a positive sign then?

Do y'all think this basketball stuff going on will have any effect on football recruiting? I just want to know if Fields is done with Aubie.

Do you actually want someone to answer that or are you smart enough to know the answer on your own?

Nay, Oliver Robinson went down a few months back.

Before he worked in NCAA enforcement, he was an associate director of amateurism compliance.
His job was literally to make sure kids were, in fact, eligible to play basketball.
What a moron.

Leave it to AU24 to give us any negative bama news
It's pretty funny that he's so bad about it, other fanbases are pointing it out.

So he pretty much did nothing wrong? He may have intended to at some point but it never happened?

You mean the high ranking admin we hired directly from the NCAA compliance department? You tell me....how does the NCAA accuse a university of LOIC due to the transgressions of a man who worked for their own compliance department 2 years ago?
The FBI hires computer hackers all the time. Who better to know how to circumvent the rules then someone who was in charge of policing them.

So he met with Atlanta suit guy, a financial advisor and Colin Sexton's dad to do the same thing Chuck Person was doing and Chuck introduced him to the deal? Is that right?
Is the connection to Chuck through Avery?

Exactly. If he is arrested, specifically for fraud, go ahead and assume they have proof he paid Sexton/family and broke NCAA rules. If he is not arrested or is charged with use of public office for private gain, instead of fraud, we likely don't have to worry about NCAA violations.
quote:
§ 2635.702 Use of public office for private gain.
An employee shall not use his public office for his own private gain, for the endorsement of any product, service or enterprise, or for the private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity, including nonprofit organizations of which the employee is an officer or member, and persons with whom the employee has or seeks employment or business relations. The specific prohibitions set forth in paragraphs (a) through (d) of this section apply this general standard, but are not intended to be exclusive or to limit the application of this section.
(a)Inducement or coercion of benefits. An employee shall not use or permit the use of his Government position or title or any authority associated with his public office in a manner that is intended to coerce or induce another person, including a subordinate, to provide any benefit, financial or otherwise, to himself or to friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity.

They knew where the $$ was and went for it. Chuck gave (at least) some to the kid's family. Hopefully this guy kept it in his pocket. Yeah, I know it is wishful thinking, but I can hope . . . and dance . . .

True but proving that Alabama hired him with the specific intent of using his NCAA knowledge to circumvent the rules will be really difficult if trying to show lack of institutional control. This specific case will result in egg all over the NCAA's face if they try to touch Bama on this one. Our defense in the public eye is too easy.

So is this either illegal or against NCAA regulations? With the current information, it's hard to see a major issue, given that the kid had already declared. Sounds more like an in-house issue than a legal one, doesn't it? It's extremely poor ethics and definitely an abuse of his position but can somebody clear up what other implications arise from the situation?
