Doesn't really change anything. That is what Chuck Person thought he was doing, too.

Sacrificing Auburn to bring down Alabama. That's a true Auburn man.

Not even worried. It's been eight or nine years since we had a player drafted. If Sexton got money, we can cut him loose now.

Well if there is anything we have going for us here, it is that it will be really difficult for the NCAA to say Alabama knew or should have known. Our best defense: "Hell, we were so committed to following NCAA rules that we hired the guy directly from the NCAA compliance department."

quote:Yes. Person was taking money from a financial advisor to steer future NBA players from AU to him.
In November?

Baker may have been involved in a scheme to accept money in return for directing a UA player to sign with an Atlanta financial advisor after declaring for the NBA draft , The Tuscaloosa News has learned.
Hence there is no NCAA or SEC rules violations. As "influencing" is not an NCAA rules violation.
Only players can be declared ineligible for accepting payments not coaches.

The definition of "influencing" will be key here. Did he simply suggest or recommend the advisor? Not a violation. Did he pay Sexton or the family as has been proven in the AU situation? NCAA violation.... My guess is he did pay someone, given this FA's track record, unless we got lucky enough to catch this before any payments happened.

It's real, but it ain't beautiful
But it is real. We have a guy involved. Whether it's a disaster or we got lucky is yet to be seen.
