Defense feels very 2013ish.

And I guarantee you thought that same year Alabama would have beat FSU in 2013. Now it's cool to belittle that defense.

Now it's cool? They couldn't rush the passer and were gashed by Auburn on the ground. It was a weak defensive front.

I didn't ever think that. I thought we'd get lit up and have to outscore them.

How would you rate this defensive performance against a team that doesn't have a player cracking our 2 deep? Good? Fair? I guess I just have higher expectations than you, gotta be it. I'm actually jealous that you were able to watch that performance and feel good about it

Here's what I see, 41-23 and a W. average performance by defense with many players out and many players rotating. Stop the elitist bullshite.

I'm not even talking about the stats. We were getting pushed around at times in the first and second half up front. We were giving up a push on run plays. We couldn't generate any pressure.

Maybe it was the injuries, maybe it was just poor effort, but it was there and it was bad. Hopefully it can improve.

Alabama is without three starting line backers, and the pound for pound best athlete on the team. Yeah we are gonna see some growing pains.

A blowout! I was worried about this game all week and look at us. Outgained Colorado state by 96 yards. Silly me.

Is criticism not allowed? This isn't bamamag compadre, you can take your arse back over there if valid criticism gets under your skin. Sorry my head isn't buried in the sand. I wish it were though, like I said...must be nice to watch a performance like that and not be concerned about this team.

Criticise away man, Bama success had produced a pocket of elitist pukes who have little knowledge of football and shoot the players down at every corner. Grown men make charts of where Jalen has completions. It's plain embarrassing.

We don't seem to have the "it" factor on defense. Not nearly as much pressure on the QB or ball hawking.

The offense seems random. Good players making good plays, but no identity or flow.

As long as we keep winning I'm happy of course.

Motherfricker, I've seen Alabama lose in person to the likes of Southern Miss and Louisiana tech. You don't know nearly as much about football as you think you do. Regurgitating what some asssistant trainer is feeding you doesn't mean you can process what you're seeing. I don't "shoot the players down at every corner"

I've sung their praises for years, because they have been elite. This team is not elite. I call it how I see it. You should try it some time.

Yea, I'm not entirely sure what we are offensively. Part of that is the way they call these early games, so maybe it'll all come into view in Nashville next weekend.

I don't feel like the folks with concerns are generally the sky is falling folks. Nor are people acting crazy and saying over the top things.

I think this is key. Usually I melt down for the first few games, and I did my share of melting today, but I think a lot of the inconsistency has to do with Saban and the assistants trying some stuff, rotating guys in and out, trying to see what works best.

Another thing I think happened today was after the dominant first quarter, the team seemed to relax and got punched in the mouth. This is something that has happened quite a few times over the years, most notably against Ohio State in the playoffs. It's something that probably won't cost you against Colorado State, but it can kill you against a better team. Hopefully they can learn a lesson early.

I agree. I think CSU was a better team than people think, but the defense was soft. I'm not use to being so soft in run defense and lacking a pass rush at all. The offense is just weird. I want to see what the offense does when we play a team who keeps it close.

Our receiving corps seems stacked but Gallup is a legitimate NFL talent. He'd certainly be in the rotation here. Unfortunately our concerns coming in about the left corner spot may be true and Averett still gets bullied by big receivers.

Their success running the ball is concerning but we will get a couple of guys back up front which should help.

Overall it was a subpar game defensively but ~40% of their offense came in the fourth quarter down 31. Not really sure I'm ready to condemn the defense for letting up in that situation.

I keep seeing this. They ran for a whopping 3.6 ypc. People are losing their minds over this game, and Its fricking hilarious.

Keep melting, I'm glad you've seen Bama lose in person so have I. You need to relax and enjoy the show. You don't know me nor do you know anything well about anything. Have fun and don't fret.

Folks keep complaining on here about a lack of offensive identity. I disagree completely. There is more of an offensive identity this year than I've noticed the past few years.

Kiffin surely had a method to his madness and it worked out great, but I could never just tell you what we would do on a 3rd and 3 to get a first down.

This team defintely has a run first mentality. Whether it's Jalen or any of the talented running backs, this offensive identity is all about running the ball. And I think it's effective because the red zone efficiency looks pretty good to me. They are punching it in for a lot of TDs and not just settling for field goals inside of the 20.
