I'm not sure what our identity is on either side of the ball. I'm not sure what we are elite at other than QB runs.

We don't feel in sync at all on either side. Defense feels very 2013ish.

Just don't feel good about them right now.

Ditto.

Our defense looks like shite right now.

I said it in the pre season and I'm saying it again now, this defense will finally suffer from losing all those key players. Our DL is far below Bama standards. Also tackling from the defense as a whole has been bad at times.

Keep in mind, this was an offense that scored a grand total of 3 points vs Colorado.

Pruitt and the defense deserve every bit of criticism they're about to get.

Yeah, our DL is a weakness. No pressure whatsoever, and with the LBers out, we are struggling

Our offense was fine with Jalen leading the charge.

Once we put in Tua and Najee we went 3 and out on consecutive drives.

That is what lead to their 2 scores. A tired, injury depleted defense.

Hopefully that will shut up the people calling for Tua to get more snaps.

Games are won and lost up front, and our DL is just average at best. The offense will have to win games because the defense will not be the usual top 3 squad this year. It may not even be top 3 in our division.

And DL is a weakest recruiting area to. Not going to get better off of this years class or the last one.

Meh, we will be fine. We're missing like 6 linebackers. I'll be concerned when/if we get gashed by SEC teams.

This. And I think Saban put Jalen back out there after the last few series sucked so bad. I mention in another thread that I thought I saw Saban have a few words for Tua as he came off the field too.

I don't see the DL getting better at creating pressure. None of those guys are great pass rushers. Our only proven pass rusher this year was Evans and he's hurt.

You got to remember we lost one of the most decorated defensive players in school history in Allen, arguably the best OLBer duo under Saban with Williams and Anderson, and also arguably the best ILB under Saban in Foster. You can't replace those guys without a noticeable drop in play.

I am officially not. Hilarious to think we can have a DL like we had for the past 3 years. It is a work in progress, but they will be fine come playoff time. Our defense thanks to NS is read instead of react. Teams can pass on runNing plays, throw screens, throw on 3 step drops. All these things make our D line vulnerable. We will blitz, cause turnovers, and rely on our offense for once when time comes

The no pressure with the front 4 is very concerning.

I'm not. We have plenty of time before we play a team with a pulse. Sometimes it's good to get your arse kicked. I think defense will prove themselves next week.

My hope is it's an inexperience thing. I do think that's part of it, and that will improve.

I do have legitimate talent concerns up front though. Hopefully it gels.

I think they should start Jedrick Wills over Womack moving forward.

If their competition was so close in camp why not see who performs better in a game setting? Why does Womack get the nod? Seniority?

I expect the LBs to get better but I don't think the DL will. We don't have any true pass rushers there.
