mentioned this in another thread. Maybe Evans had proven something last year but Lewis and Miller had not yet. Both Lewis and Evans along with Jennings went out in the 1st half of the FSU game. Our defense played its best half in the 2nd half of the FSU this season so far IMO. Only Miller was around for that half until he got hurt.

I agree with that. I think that we did a great job in the 2nd half bringing pressure packages and confusing FSU. We didn't do a lot of that the last 2 weeks (on purpose, I'm sure). With our personnel I think we can be a great blitz team, we just haven't really done a ton of it the last few weeks. I think we'd prefer not to have to do that, but with the current stock of personnel we probably will need to do it more. I think it can be done with devastatingly good results, too, with Harrison/Minkah/Brown coming through gaps/off the edge.

I'm just happy as frick to have Saban here and until a shitty team beats us or actually almost beats us, then I'm not worried. And I won't be disappointed with a 10-3 season beacuse I'm not spoiled. Saban has done more than most schools will in their entire history and that's not even including his time at LSU. The fact that he is topping Bear is something that most peolle will never ever learn to appreciate. It just is frustrating that our fans always have to find sometbjng to criticize.

So what if we do lose two games? Or go to the playoff and get beat? If that's a failure to you, then you don't deserve Saban.

Good Lord. Its crap like this that makes it tough to have an honest discussion.

Yet I was the ONLY Bama fan who stayed in the Championship thread the whole time. The rest of you ran and hid because you're fair-weather fans. Notning but a bunch of frontrunners. Yeah I said it, because it's true.

That's fine, you are more than welcome to feel that way.

I will be disappointed. I guess that makes me spoiled. I won't call Finebaum and ask for him to be fired and I won't threaten to burn my season tickets, but I'll be a bit frustrated with the results. Then I'll move on, watch basketball and start thinking about the next season.

I mean, do you really think people don't appreciate what Saban has done? Really?

Again, let me reiterate, during my college years we went 2-8 against Auburn, LSU and Tennessee. Since I really began understanding football in around 1996, we were the laughingstock of the SEC. Not to be rude, but my generation was raised on shitty Alabama teams and we all stuck with it, endured an entire childhood of ridicule and continued to love the Tide. And we didn't have the Bear years to fall back on. It was all awful. So, I don't really give a rip what anybody wants me to think. I earned to feel however I want to feel. And I like to discuss how we played and how we feel about the team. And I like to do it honestly. I don't cut myself off because I start thinking a position grouping might be a little bit concerning because it would offend Lord Saban (it wouldn't, by the way).

I do not think most of our fans have any higher expectations then what Saban expects from this team. I am sure we have a few that seem like they are ready to jump off the ledge but most of the chatter pointing out areas that need improvement are exactly what Saban is saying as well. He is not Butch Jones after a game talking about how proud he is of the guys every game and that they are champions of life. He comes out and says hey we need to work on this and we need to work on that. We need to get better in certain areas. If anything I would say Saban is the one that has created such high fan expectations.

Like you said 10-3 I believe most fans would always be happy with that but Saban constantly reminds us how much better this team can play even when we win by 40. So the fans start running with what he is preaching. Just saying

I paid $1,000 to sit in the endzone at the championship game. I woke up at 4 AM to drive down the day of the game and stayed in some shitestain Hampton Inn 90 miles northeast of Tampa and 2 hours out of the way of my drive home because I love the Tide and it was the only way we could do it, but I was doing it because of course I was. I paid more than that the year before to get to Arizona.

Enough of this bullshite.

This right here makes you sound a little selfish and childish because you want to lump everyone together. I do not think I have ever posted in any game thread. I am either at the game or more then likely at the viewing in my local area and never post during the game.

I, and thousands of other students my age, repeatedly drove to Fayettville, Knoxville, Gainesville, Auburn, Oxford, Starkville, Baton Rouge and Athens to see us get our arse kicked year after year after year.

I remember flying to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl because we literally thought it was the best bowl game we'd ever go to. I drove to Fayetville one weekend to see Tiffin clank 3 kicks and lose in OT and then 6 days later drove to Gainesville to watch us lose in excruciatingly painful, teeth pulling fashion. Then, 3 weeks later, we all drove to Knoxville for a good ole fashion game of just the tip in which we lost because we couldn't score of 1st and goal from the 3.

So, again, let's please not get into "you guys are fair weather fans" nonsense.

You're the guy who started a thread to bash Mullen, the second best coach in the SEC. Excuse me, if I don't care much for your football opinions.

Again we had plenty of shitty games in our championship years but Bama fans just block it out because of the end result. Ole Miss should have beat us last year. UT had to have Cody block two FG's to keep them from winning in '09. There are many more examples. The year Henry won the Heisman we played like shite against someone like ULM or somebody like that and everyone was worrying about our offense, but again all that gets erased with championships and people wanna keep comparing the current team to past championship teams without actaully looking at those past teams critically.

Bullshite, I didn't do it to bash Mullen. I did it because it was an interesting stat how great he's been against Non-ranked teams but how he has had trouble breaking through against really good teams.

Sounds good man. You can lord over everyone with how much you love Bama and how we are all ungrateful little snots because we dare discuss what we see on the field.

Folks like you are the people that I wanted to throw off the top of Bryant Denny in 2003 when we won 4 games and they felt fine because they were sitting around talking about how awesome the Bryant era was.

So, a thread in which I speak my mind ends with you telling other people how dumb and ungrateful they are for speaking their minds and how their opinions are stupid.

Got ya.

We'll just agree to disagree or something.

We could have just as easily lost our last NC to Clemson. Good teams find ways to win and with a great coach the chances are better. I doubt anyone on here forgets how we lost to LSU 9-6 and prayed for the stars and moon to align so we could get another shot at them in the NC game.

I wasn't happy then, that's my point. I don't believe anyone who lived through the Shula era as a true fan could feel the way you do about our current team. You expose your bandwagonness by how you criticize our current team. No true fan who suffered through Perkins, Curry never beating Auburn, Dubose, Francione, Shula could be so critical of our current team.

Think that we are a 12 win, SEC Championship football team that will have trouble in the playoffs against Top 4 teams?

I mean, I feel like that's a pretty positive overall assessment.

You expose your bandwagonness

I don't even know how to respond to this. You do understand the definition of "bandwagon", right?

My point with that was once it looked like we might not win, all these 'die-hard' tried and true Bama fans that had been posting all night, were nowhere to be found. I said Jalen will lead us to a score! I was probably just being optimistic but then he did just that. Then several Bama fans came back until Clemson started marching down the field. I wasn't trying to call out any specific Bama fans in here for that. Just bandwagoners in general.

I'm not an idiot, I've seen the way the fanbase has grown very quickly with Saban at the helm.

I wasn't happy with the defense yesterday either, but I don't see what good is does to keep talking about it. It's time to focus on Vandy. If people have specific worries about Vandy or how another specific team might do against us, then that's one thing but acting like yesterday's game was ever close or in question is just silly. But I'm not telling people not to crticize, but that they are using selective memory to do so. And that they're spoiled. But just because I feel that way doesn't mean I want people to not criticize the team.

But that maybe they just look at the bigger macrocosmic picture and take things into perspective, rather than a more microcosmic view that keeps comparing the current model to a former one but not in a accurate way that also would include shortcomings of past teams.
