re: Day Trip from Seville?

There are some great ruins a short ride (we took Uber) from Seville that are named Italica. It is 8 kilometers outside Seville. Cordoba, Granada and Ronda are all great. If you go to Granada get your tickets to the Alhambra in advance.

In Istanbul I have found it better to stay in the Sultanhamet area. There is a beautiful Conrad Hilton in the Besiktas area but it is away from the most visited sites. I also would take a Bosphorus ferry ride you have time.

If you go to Milan and want to see the "Last Supper" painting, be sure and book tickets in advance.

Boothbay Harbor is a great place to visit. You can take ferry to Monhegan Island if you want to do some hiking.

re: Lisbon - where to eat and stay

Agree on eating at Ramiro. Time Out Market is great for lunch with many choices. Casa Balthazar is a very good place to stay. Not far from Duque Brew Pub.
Another great spot to visit is the Time Out Market. There are multiple restaurants and vendors under one roof.
Agree with recommendation of Ramiro.

We were in Lisbon for 5 days in November and stayed at Casa Balthazar. You will enjoy Lisbon as there is a lot to see. Easy day trips from Lisbon to Sintra, Cascais or Evora by train. Just be sure of which station to use. The Metro is very easy to use also. We enjoyed a very good meal in Lisbon at Ramiro (seafood restaurant).

You may also want to check the drop fee. Renting in Belgium and returning in Italy may incur some expensive charges.
There is a nice narrow gauge steam train in Durango, Colorado that goes to Silverton and back.

There is a restaurant/store named Morse's Sauerkraut in Waldoboro about 25 minutes away from Damariscotta. Neat place to eat lunch and browse the great selection of foods they carry. ]Morses Sauerkaut[/link]

Lobster at Five Islands is great. It is about an hour from Portland. Great area for photos. Boothbay Harbor is also interesting but as BengalBen said you will have to venture off Hwy 1. Traffic on Hwy 1 can also be backed up sometimes.
Prayers for a successful surgery and recovery.

TRob--The Fairmont Southampton Princess is a fantastic place to stay. Bermuda is a great island and easy to get to.
You may want to look at Heidelberg with a stay in Boppard. Short train ride to Koblenz from Boppard. Easy city to walk.
