Mauk is legit. I'm not looking forward to seeing him at Kyle in 2014...

re: Can A&M climb to be in the top of SEC year in year out?New commit is a statement

in 10 years aTm will be middle of the pack in the SEC. Their fanbase will constantly remind themselves and anybody in shouting distance how good they were their first year in the league and that they still have so much potential. Nobody will care.
Keep telling yourself that. Ignorance is bliss.
re: I see Tenn. is recruiting well. Whats the scoop of their rebuilding?

Tenne$$ee. Cheating like hell. I spoke to a Lawrence Lee the other day. They dirTy. It will come out in time with Butch.
Really? This is a tired accusation. Tennessee is recruiting well. Deal with it.

First y'all more than likely won't have another Manziel anytime soon so this will be the first hump to overcome ...
I think most A&M fans are aware of this.
From the OP:
quote:
we were far more traditional air raid and that seemed to work, yet an offense with Manziel, can't really be an accurate standard to compare something to, as the coverage packages likely won't be anything comparable.

Second I just don't think the Air Raid alone will work in the SEC
I agree with this statement. However, I think the fact that we primarily ran the Air Raid offense had a lot to do with Kliff Kingsbury, the new coaching staff, the finite amount of time the coaches had to teach the players the playbook, and Johnny's unique abilities.
Clarence McKinney definitely opened up the playbook in the Cotton Bowl. He ran several formations that were skewed toward running calls with smaller splits from the OL.
I expect our offense to be more dynamic next season in terms of formations and variety. We have the stable of running backs to pull it off as well as additions such as Cam Clear to throw in for run-heavy formations as well as Red Zone threats.

I really like the options the different styles give us with Allen Hill and Davis.
Agreed. The contrast between their abilities will make for a dynamic competition once Johnny leaves.
Coach Sumlin and Co. have also shown us that they will go with the players that give us the best chance to win, period. Although Sumlin had experienced success with a traditional pocket passer (Keenum) in the past, he chose Johnny to lead his offense. At the time, most viewed Showers as the safe choice and Johnny as the gamble.
