I watched both episodes on Monday. I can't wait for the last two to come out.
Like what has been said here, a lot of this information had been covered before. I've heard a lot of these stories already, but there have been things that they went deeper on that was interesting.
I will always watch a good NASCAR doc about "the old days". This one seems really well done.
I was a JR fan growing up and I really feel sorry that he doesn't have access to the things that might make him feel closer to SR. Just some of the memorabilia would be awesome to see. I'll never understand the Theresa stuff. How insecure must you be to run that race team into the ground and shut out SR's kids? We may never get the full truth from anyone involved. She's only 66 so we may have to wait a very long time to see what is left over
ETA: Also I wonder had SR not died if Hendrick would be what it is today. That's some revisionist history that I enjoy thinking about.
I also was thinking about how Kerry (I think?) told JR on the podcast that he couldn't even use his own name for his company due to Theresa. It's crazy

I went down a rabbit hole watching these one day. I think I watched over 5 hours of clips before I realized how long I'd been sitting there.
It's really impressive and the people who participate are equally brave and crazy

Not related to OP's question but: in a previous life I fixed pool equipment. I hadn't had much experience with sand filter repairs and had one to go look at. What was supposed to be a quick job took two days and I ate a ton in cost from either not knowing what I was supposed to do and breaking things.
I checked on this repair a couple days later and there was a tiny bit of sand in the pool. I vacuumed it up and it never came back. I was ready to quit if I had to remove the innards of the sand filter again. This was the days before youtube and the internet were really good resources.

I’ve never had a pool in my life
In addition to the advice in this thread, here are a couple more:
- Break out your pricing when you get quotes. One pool builder may "include" something that others don't but they may be more expensive. Example: Company A includes 4 pool lights at $3000. Company B only includes 2 pool lights for $1200 but you can add more for $400 each. There many other examples which is why I recommend going line item by line item to find where the differences are.
- Have your general idea of what you want before you get quotes. It'll make your life easier than trying to decide what you want while the salesman is there. If you have the basic design and your needs, it makes it much better for you and the company
- Get multiple quotes. You may have to sub out pool and outdoor kitchen separately. The pool guy who also does outdoor kitchens may be more expensive than going with two separate companies.
re: How do you deal w/a family member who's a selfish pathological lying professional victim?

I have family like this.
The biggest gain I ever had personally was realizing that some people actually believe the lies that they have made up. Once I realized that my truth and logic can’t compete, I realized that my life is better off being at a distance.
I am truthful with myself and with others and I do not waste precious energy or effort with people who cannot reciprocate.
This means having to pull the bandaid off with some family members and exclude myself from gatherings and I’ll always offer my side when declining. I refuse to let someone drain my happiness. I am not and will never be a good faker. Life goes on.

It’s not doom casting. To be fair, my comments are related to a few primary and elementary schools, not high schools.
I guess you can take my comments at face value. I won’t out myself to prove a point but what I said in the post separate from what you quoted is absolutely true. I did say some schools. I can’t speak for all

I think most of the general public would be surprised with how much gets swept under the rug in some AP schools to make those schools look better.
One of the main problems with all of this is that in some schools, there are little to no consequences for anything. Teachers are not disciplining because there is no point to it. Some kids will act up because the "punishment" is not really a punishment at all. The parents of most kids do not think that their little angel is misbehaving and will take the word of a 7 year old over any teacher.
Then you have some administrators who coach teachers to not report incidents because it will look bad on their school. So fast forward through the school year and you have problem children who hit others and act out and there is nothing happening to protect other kids and even teachers. Some administrators even will place blame on teachers when the teachers hands are tied.
These issues are more commonplace in our "great" schools in AP than most people know. This all leads to the high school level where these kids act like animals because no accountability has been implemented for their entire school careers.

re: Is Bubba Wallace a Contendor?

Bubba Wallace:
Total Cup (256 Races):
Average Starting Position: 19.6
Average Finishing Position: 19.8
Wins: 2
Poles: 3
Lead Lap Finishes: 131 (52.1%)
With 23XI (144 Races):
Average Starting Position: 13.7
Average Finishing Position: 19.6
Wins: 2
Poles: 3
Lead Lap Finishes: 96 (66.7%)
Xfinity (88 Races)
Average Starting Position: 12.9
Average Finishing Position: 14
Wins: 0
Poles: 2
Truck (51 Races)
Average Starting Position: 10.7
Average Finishing Position: 10.7
Wins: 6
Poles: 3
He is firmly in mid pack. I don't think he deserves to be out of Cup. I do think that if he wasn't who he is, the illusion of success would be quite different. Alex Bowman has similar performance overall and is probably in the hot seat at HMS.
I have this same opinion about Daniel Suarez and Austin Dillon.

Looks great! I came by this thread to see if you posted an update.
BBQ is subjective. I did three racks of ribs this weekend that were fall of the bone and tender. If it was a comp, I guess I'd have gotten laughed at. Everyone who ate them thought they were awesome.
In my opinion, brisket makes people nervous because of the investment you put into it. No one wants to cook something for 10+ hours and it come out like dog food.
Also, if you have a vacuum sealer it is a great idea to seal some up for later. I like to do brisket nachos with the leftovers from time to time.

If goal is to serve at 10am Sunday morning. Would you start it late Saturday afternoon?
Hard to really say as I've found that sometimes, I cook one very fast and then the next one will take 2 extra hours.
On the pellet grill, I would put it on around 6-8 PM at 225 and check it around midnight to see where we are at. This is where a meater thermometer comes in handy. The ones that come with your grill are ok, but you will always want to fine tune with a better probe.
My goal would be to plan to rest around 6 am. If you have an oven that can stay at 140, you could potentially start earlier and have it "rest" at 140 until you are ready to slice. That way you don't have to babysit so much in the middle of the night.
Some other tips that I have picked up are:
1) You can trim all you want but it depends on what you want to do with it. In a competition? You want that bad boy to be lean and mean and look good. For feeding people? Trim some of the fat making sure to make your brisket as aerodynamic as possible. Every little pocket will hold liquid on top and your bark will not be as good as you'd like. Here is an example of a small trim that I did last year.
[

1a) Don't be afraid to season it. Some people prefer the "Texas" way. I like to shoot mine up with Meat Church brisket injection and season the shite out of it. Your call.
2) Plan to leave yourself extra time. The first part of the cook is very important. Don't try to muscle it to and through the stall. I've found on my pellet grill that the stall is usually very short. Give yourself time to adjust temperature to get your bark where you want it to be. I usually start at 225 and will bump it up towards the end of this stage if I'm trying to wrap. The longer you can keep the brisket forming bark, the better it will be.
3) I prefer to wrap with butcher paper. Get the 2 foot wide roll if you can. It will make your life a lot easier instead of trying to Frankenstein the regular roll. Use a spray bottle and lightly wet your butcher paper if you find it difficult to wrap. In this stage, the meater probe is awesome in that you can wrap the brisket with the probe intact without having any holes in the paper.
4) Start checking your brisket no later than 195. At that point, you should start to feel that "peanut butter" when probing. As said previously in this thread, there is no "set" temp for this type of cook. It will be by feel. After doing a few, you will "get it". This may sound silly, but I actually put my probe in a jar of peanut butter when I first started cooking briskets to try to understand what it felt like. It worked.
5) Rest, Rest, Rest. As I said earlier, if you have an oven or something that can hold at 140, that would be perfect to rest your brisket. If not, I just wrap it in an old towel and throw it in a cooler. You want that brisket to cool a bit and suck up all of the juices. I have rested for right under two hours and then up to 6-8 hours before. Just leave time for the meat to do its thing.
6) DO NOT SLICE UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO EAT. It is true that brisket dies a quick death once you start slicing. Sure, it will still be fine later, but you should wait until the latest you possibly can before slicing. I wait until people have plates in their hands before I start. Another point here, get a good slicing knife for this. I didn't think it mattered until I got one and it's a game changer.
7) I would invest in some of the cotton liners and gloves that you see some cooks use. I use it almost every cook on my smoker. I use the latex gloves during prep to save so much time and energy. User preference though.
All in all, there are many ways to cook a brisket. I started by following Matt with Meat Church and his way. Never steered me wrong. Hope this helps!

Yeah I thought of this as they know the basics of how the trick was done, but a magician might use a different technique than P&T thought, which equals fooled for the purpose of the show. I don't mind the codewords.
There are also plenty of videos on youtube that go over some of the more popular illusions and how they were done. I'll go down a rabbit hole with the show every now and again.

This has been a problem for both men’s and women’s basketball for a few years now.
The game last night was almost unwatchable. I’ve always said, and still maintain, that referees need to pick how they officiate a game and keep it that way. Either let them play or call it tight.
The problem is when you have a crew like the one last night who ebb and flow with the game. They affected the game and were not in control at all. LSU played very aggressively, but the OK girls should have been fouled out in the 3rd quarter. You could see the frustration on both sides.
It was a very poor game for that crew and deservedly so. There were several bad calls for both teams that dictated the game we saw.

Have to set it up on the same network but mine will connect from anywhere. Only really good for recruiting. I wouldn't trust it playing any ranked or user game.

I've played games on my ipad with my controller connected to it. I wouldn't chance it with user against user games though.

I will just add that if you do have to go in person, go to a satellite office. We have a few tag and title places here that can do renewals, etc. on site. It takes less than 30 minutes normally. Last time, I was in and out in 10 minutes.

There are many optinos. They will typically run you over $1000. I can't remember where, but someone told me that you can get refurbished ones at a discount. That might be an option if cost is a concern.
