re: Who is the best team in college baseball from 2000-2009?

we pretty much have the bookends on the decade, but overall, Texas has a better claim based on performance in the middle years

My son is from UT and we have been praying for this to happen forever - football, BB, baseball, doesn't matter.
I started trash-talking him last nite after the Texas vicory.
keeping my fingers crossed for this one.

what the hell kind of 'pickup game' are you talking about?
bunch of frat boys standing around who 'wanna play some f-ball' and up walks Kevin and Cecil who want to play too???
That would equate to Kevin v Cecil one-on-one.
So the question comes - which one could more easily tackle the other one?
I pick Kevin for that - I think he would be able to stop Cecil at least once - so Kevin's side wins.

so true
I felt sorry for the kid I think it was a shame we didn't have anyone on the bench to avoid the embarassment.
Some say we should have played JJ at once - who is to say that if we had done that, JJ's confidence would have been shattered to the extent that we would not have had him with the same QB mentality he showed later in the season.
To paraphrase Lincoln in his commentary about generals and journalists during the early parts of the Civil War:
We are indeed unfortunate that all our great coaches are posters on the Tiger Rant, while all our posters on the Tiger Rant are such great coaches.

Saw that first thing this morning.
AMAZING stats - don't care if she IS playing in Conn.
Anyone who can throw that many pitches without WALKING a bunch is amazing.

8. Billy Cannon's 59 punt return vs Ole Miss
Not to be a typo-narc - but it was 89 yds.
At the time, it was commonly referred to as 87 yds, but for decades, I have seen it referred to as 89 yards = they must have re-looked at the film and calibrated the spot more accurately.

It is obvious this is his goal - redistribution has always been part of his agenda.
Remember, though, redistribution makes for a whole bunch of people who are 'better off' in comparison to those 'rich people' who where 'holding them down.'
That may make for more hero-worship = at least enough to get re-elected.
It will all collapse however.
There is no such thing as an anti-gravity machine. You can prop up and prop up, but if there is no foundation, it will eventually collapse.
Eddy Fuller
Posted by WampusCat56 on 3/6/09 at 5:53 am
I attended Leesville High School Principal's List banquet last night - an event honoring students who have maintained a 3.8 GPA.
Eddy Fuller was the guest speaker. I had seen him play both at Leesville and at LSU, but never knew that he was a scholar as well.
Turns out he was outstanding as a student, both at LHS and at LSU.
When he went to the Buffalo Bills, they were in four straight Super Bowls. Eddie still had to get 9 hours to get his degree from LSU - and after three years of that Super Bowl shite, he was still unable to register during the Spring semester to finish his degree since registration closed way before the big game was over.
He petitioned the chancellor to let him register late - and was granted the privilege - so he finally completed his degree.
His theme was 'commitment.'
Overall a good speech - I applaud such student-atheletes. Wish we had more of them.
He revealed that he 'got in trouble' early on at LSU - didn't say what it was but I presumed he meant drugs. He said it only took one phone call from his mother to set him straight.

That is when I developed my man-love for Miles.

I really gave him the benefit of the doubt most of the year being a freshman and all. I was at the alabama game, sitting on the 30 yardline, when on third down and three he rolled to my side, he could have walked for 10 yards but instead threw the ball out of bounds.
Precisely the moment when I said that he cannot be entrusted with leading the team - ever.
THis demonstrated total lack of football instinct - and I don't think that is something that can be taught or coached. If you don't have any instinct for the game, you cannot be expected to learn it or lead others towards excellence.
And as I recall, he only need 3 or 4 yards for the first down. Regardless of distance, I do know that the first down was there without doubt and he threw the ball away. :banghead: :banghead:

no whats amazing is the fact that hatch seems non existant
AMEN bro - Hatch is the answer to the backup QB situation.
Lee needs more football savvy, not just improvement in QB skills. When I saw him pull up and make an impossible toss for an incompletion instead of just putting his head down and running the four yards necessary for a first down to keep an important drive alive, I completely lost any hope at all for him as a winning QB.
I don't even think you can coach that mentality into a player. You either have that instinct or you don't.
