When I was a teenager, a friend of mines Dad used talk about life. He told me I would come across people “that were so stupid, that they thought they were smart.” I’m 55 now, probably the age he was when he told me that. Boy was he right.

I was just reading the newsfeed where I check my emails on my laptop. Every title was incendiary in order to get me to click, and then once I opened up the articles, they said something almost completely different than a title.
I was once again reminded of why I avoid reading those articles.
I would imagine some people only read the titles

You are absolutely right, my head guys brother was like that. I ended firing him because he complained all the time. I’m sure we’ve all worked somewhere and experienced the constant complainer. It ruins the mood of everyone trying to do their job.
His brother talked to me several times in private and said that he was the only one that sent money to their parents and that his brother was selfish and wouldn’t help.
He also said that his brother had a wife and kids in Mexico and he never sent them anything.
I am on the side of deportation. Like I said earlier, I believe the majority of our resources should be on the gangbangers and the foreign terrorists and spies that Biden let through.

Boy is this going to be unpopular: if every illegal was deported today. The construction industry would collapse. Have you driven by any construction sites? 90% new homes, high rises, highways, bridges, roofs etc are being built by Hispanic crews, I stay in hotels regularly, all the room cleaners are Hispanic.
I have no idea what the long term effect would be. Hell, it might be good. Maybe everyone on welfare would suddenly go to work and become proficient in the construction industry. It took me 4-5 years to become a really good roofer. Of course I started when I was 18 and was basically roofing to pay rent and buy beer. I wasn’t focused and didn’t have a family yet.

You can’t snap your fingers and have 10 million experienced construction workers appear.

The cards that they are issued look just like social security cards except they are a red instead of the normal blue/green we receive

I’ve explained this to a few people in person. They are usually surprised. ANY illegal can go to the social security office with their passport or paperwork and apply for a tax ID #. They call it a TIN. They then can use this to receive 1099’s, pay taxes, open bank accounts, open LLC’s, get state business licenses. Just about anything. They do have a hard time getting drivers licenses. (at least here in Louisiana) If they want to buy a car they usually drive over to Texas and pay ridiculous interest rates for crap vehicles. Or they get their American boss to buy the vehicle and they pay the note.
I’ve seen a few with real drivers licenses. They usually say Arizona or California.
They also buy their work comp and General liability insurance from Texas while living in Louisiana because it’s much cheaper
Once last thing, since I’ve already rambled
You do not need to be licensed or insured to roof in the state of Texas. I mean no checks and balances. Louisiana requires workers comp, general liability and a state license and most cities require that you pull a permit to replace a roof or even build a fence.

Speaking of EBT, I was standing in line at my favorite little crawfish place in my neighborhood a few years ago, and I was surprised to see there were about 20 people in line in front of me all getting large amounts of boiled crawfish and shrimp. Then I saw them start whipping out their EBT cards spending way more than I had budgeted. I paid cash for 10 lbs of crawfish and a few potatoes
It disgusted me to see all those people wasting the money meant to feed their families
I don’t believe that you should be able to buy hot meals with EBT

My 14-year-old son and I were having lunch yesterday and the topic of the war came up. I started talking about a movie I just watched.
The Nuremberg trials. He tried to tell me that 6 million Jews dying in the holocaust was a made up number and that it was actually much lower. Then he seemed to speak derogatorily and say the joos and snicker.
This is a kid that had a Trump flag on his wall for a year, the one where he’s raising his fist and has blood coming from his ear.
He finally took it down. I’m a Trump supporter, but I just thought the flag was in poor taste for a 13 to 14-year-old. His Mom (who votes democrat because they promise to pay off her student loans) bought if for him.
So, my conservative son, who attends a private catholic high school has either been taught, told by his friends or seen TikTok videos that the holocaust is a bit of a hoax.

I didn’t even try to argue with him. He’s at that age where the more I try to convince him of anything he just digs his heels in harder.

My older daughter, she was always difficult to be honest. Just an unhappy human. She went off to Tulane, switched majors and graduated with an art degree. Never was good at keeping a job, became quite angry when I stopped sending her money 4 or 5 years after she graduated college. I called her one time and asked her how she was doing and where she was working. There was a pause and then she responded with. Well you know I hate to work.

Back to the point, she called me hysterically screaming and crying the first time Trump was elected. She told me the Trump was going to put all of the homosexuals and the blacks in concentration camps. I just started laughing and told her she was ridiculous.
I pointed out that a large portion of our military is Black and asked her how she thought they were all going to be convinced to go along with that idea.
The next Christmas, she refused to come to my dad‘s house because she knew he probably voted for Trump. Oddly enough the year before he gifted her a new pistol. Her sister was really jealous because she got such a nice gift.
We communicate a couple of times a year. Holidays are much more relaxed when she doesn’t come home.
We have a family group chat, every few years she demands that she be added and then the first time someone disagrees with her because she often goes on political rants. She removes herself from the chat. The odd part about that is it’s about 50/50
Democrats - Republican on the group chat. Most of us are adult enough to keep our opinions to ourselves.
Every once in a while and aunt or an uncle will get drunk and post something silly late at night and usually we just ignore them

War didn’t factor into my decision to vote.
My priorities in a rough order.
Securing our borders (I’m sick of terrorists, Drugs and thugs crossing with ease) Promoting common sense energy production (we can’t have ultra restrictive energy policies and compete on the world stage)
Having a leader that loves America.
Not having that idiot kamala in office may actually be first.
If you had asked me if we would end up blowing up Iran. I would have replied “I sure hope so” We’ve needed to do that for at least 2 decades, but we’ve been led by weak capitulating men
