Another thing you have to consider is fatigue. Sometimes in a game you will be faster than other times. Particularly if you are driving with your legs into a pile. Try doing that - the equivalent of doing squats - and then run a sprint shortly afterwards. Sometimes even after making a few cuts your legs will stiffen up a lot or just slightly but enough to affect your speed.

LF doesn't have Bo Jackson speed (not even Adrian Peterson has that) but he is very fast and looks noticeably more explosive to me than any other LSU back. When you factor that in with his natural power, size and his very impressive open field moves and agility, you have a rare package.

Kid is awesome and is only going to get better. I'm a Miles fan but was really frustrated to see Fournette taken out right after he did that damage. Should have keep feeding him the ball in my opinion.... maybe he was dinged or cramping. I like Magee but if Fournette is ready to go then no other running back is going to be the threat that he is.

We need more fans like him. The recruits are not the problem
Agreed. Outstanding teacher by all accounts and the results show on the field.
Did anyone mention Neil Smith? - he should be in the conversation.

Leroy Hoard - not in the upper echelon of that list but would have had a storied LSU career I think

Michael Stonebreaker - all American linebacker at Notre Dame

Damn, this list is hard to choose from. I will go with Faulk I guess just because I would love to have seen what he could have done at LSU. Bradshaw is my pick for second.

re: What is Sonic Sam up to?

Hope Sam gets another opportunity.

He was a great player for LSU and we should all wish the best for these young men who had the choice of any school in the country yet chose to come play in the great state of Louisiana.

Thanks Big Sam for the passion you brought to Tiger Stadium and all the punishment you took and dished out on behalf of Louisiana State University. We all wish you the best in facing all of life's challenges and you will always be a great Tiger.

Amen brother. Nailed it. Michael Brooks was Lawrence Taylor dominant before the knee and was young in football experience. Love PP7 and how he represents himself and LSU and no one left it all out on the field like Mathieu
Sounds like a very good and grounded kid. He has a great attitude about his position at run heavy Curtis and came across as happy to have team success even if it meant some sacrifice on his part. Guys like this succeed more often than not even when they don't have as much talent as he does. Would be a great Tiger - let's hope.

re: How to scheme against Manziel

oh and Manziel is good but never diss Archie Manning ... he took enough abuse with aforementioned sacks.

Archie was a bad arse with the Saints and way way underrated. He had no team around him and was running for his life against the elite of the elite and still pulled off amazing plays.
Randy Livingston and Peyton Manning were no 1 in the nation and both at Newman. Not sure if they were the same year or not but if not they couldn't have been a year apart. At the time I think Livingston was the more sure thing than Manning.
I'm an LSU fan but I definitely agree about Berry and I think Dorsey is being underrepresented.

Also, it is laughable at this stage to put Manziel with Cam and Tebow. I know Cam had only one season but no one else in this discussion carried the kind of load he did during that season.
I was going to add "the Pistol" and maybe Jimmy Taylor going on to the Vince Lombardi teams.

re: Shaq vs the Football team........

Don't remember the details but heard that Shaq dominated multiple assailants (thought it was some Dline) and thought it took place in a dorm and was over a girl - go figure.

Thought about this when there were the recent tough guy anecdote threads. Don't mess with ShaqFu
Agreed, great story and a great character

Thanks for sharing Canuck. That interview is hilarious. Sounds like an honest kid with an original personality.

Can anyone report on the second string DL? Quentin Thomas or Mickey Johnson? I am assuming that they didn't look good since it seems there are multiple comments saying the second string D was a big dropoff from the first. I was hoping that Quentin Thomas would be a nice surprise this year but haven't heard anything promising but not much negative either.

Love to hear the good reports about Kwon and thought he was looking really impressive before the injury last year against Florida
Amen, but if you do want to critique interviews, compare it to an Eric Reid, Morris Claiborne or Keke Mingo interview and yeah... douchey might be the impression your left with. Personally don't care, actions speak louder than words so if he leave it all on the field then that speaks more to who he is.
Thanks 504 - great to get the inside scoop and updates on the Karr kids. Would be awesome to see Willis and Speedy suited up at LSU.

my memory isn't that great, but I felt like he got us some key first downs, gained yards and gave alabama trouble with his running in that game. Also hear a lot of people say he was an average running quarterback but I thought he was a pretty good runner and strong as well as quick. No real dog in the fight but just seems like criticism is a little lopsided with him. I should know better than to even keep any thread like this going though.... shame on me.
