Hire new coordinators but keep Ed as a cheerleader

Imagine if we took the money we spent in buying out Orgeron and hiring Kelly and used that money for NIL recruitment.
this is the genius of Scott...

By firing Orgeron months ago, he was able to forge relationships with several big fish that ultimately resulted in us being able to get one of our top candidates. This is an effective AD and we are lucky to have him. Scott, next drink is on me!

Dave Aranda recruits
Posted by hmstiger on 11/28/21 at 2:10 pm
Now being offered. We thought it was Lincoln giving the okay, but Baylor also recruiting the same guys. Is it a sign?
besides the Riley press conference...

Do we have additional information from the horse's mouth that the Riley deal fell through? Lets not move to the next candidate until we get secondary confirmation as press conferences are unreliable.

my bet is based on a few obserations:
1) Riley and Jimbo are happy where they are. THey have no reason to leave. Jimbo left FSU because he had reasons to leave secondary to lack of support. TAMU is very supportive of him, so why would he leave. TAMU will match any salary +/-. Riley is happy where he is, and OU supports him. He will also get SEC money soon.
2) Aranda is good, but not enough experience as head coach. Also, i sense that administration wants someone more outgoing and vocal.
3) Character flaws rule out several others including Meyer and Kiffin.
4) Napier is good, but I cant see a jump from ULL to LSU. Simply put, he's too big a risk.
This leaves Campbell. No blemishes. Solid character. Overachieving at a Big 12 school. Process oriented. Will stabilize our program (think Title IX, recruiting violations, etc.).

My bet is this is our guy. He is rock solid. Go and listen to his youtube videos after games and other interviews. He has impeccable morals, talks like Saban regarding his approach to coaching and "the process", and has overachieved at Iowa State. He would bring a refreshing credibility and stability to our program.

usce it is.
re: Jordan Burch Committing on Signing day

On another website, someone made the point that it would be unlikely for him to announce LSU at his school, when he has always wanted to sign with his friends who are also going to USCe. I think that's a great point, and I predict he will stick with USCe with us ending a close second. That's my gut feeling.
Canada looked good for Maryland

Canada as interim head coach led the Maryland Terps to an upset of Texas. In 1 game, Canada has already surpassed Ed O's resume from his Ole Miss days. Oh how the future looks grim at our favorite LSU.
Explanation for issues over the last three years

The reality is that great leadership is rare in academics and other industries. LSU and Louisiana are not top destinations for talented leaders. However, every once in awhile, a strike of luck happens and you hire someone like Emmert while they are ascending the ranks to bigger and greater things. Mark got us Saban, and the rest is history. We are now witnessing the regression to our mean that is our destiny after those two leaders left LSU. Its damn painful to watch. Its possible that we don't hit that big again during our lifetimes. Orgeron was never a head coach and Alleva is a Duke-reject administrator. If you believe otherwise, you are going to be on the wrong side of history. I'll hang up and listen to the response ;-). :banghead:
re: To those concerned about the immediate "possible" loss of Aranda...

The problem has nothing to do with Dave Aranda. Its the HC moron.
re: Question for LSU Folks: Seriously, Why Orgeron??
Posted by hmstiger on 9/19/17 at 1:40 pm
The only explanation must be some rich cajun put political pressure on King Alexander or Alleva or both. Otherwise, it makes no sense.
re: Some rational thought for the irrational.

No this does reflect the continual decline in the program. From the hiring of Coach O to the holes in recruiting. The disciplinary issues are another sign of poor leadership at the highest levels. Ed couldn't coach at Ole Miss, and he can't run a bigger program at LSU. The fact that he is coach is an embarrassment to our program. We have good assistant coaches but even they are handicapped. Ok, we may win 7 games this year, but is that our goal? We in no way shape or form will beat Alabama, Auburn or Florida. That's four losses, and it aint getting better next year. Basically, we are an average SEC school now. Congrats Alleva and King. Even Les Miles is laughing at us and he likely has dementia. What a freaking joke and it just kills me to see this happen to us.
from jindal to miles -> we done
Posted by hmstiger on 9/19/17 at 5:01 am
I've been saying it since the last few years of les miles tenure. We had a short window to right the ship. The year that les miles was going to be fired and someone of the caliber of jimbo fisher was going to take the reigns was our opportunity. unfortunately, president king guided by jindal ruined us. Alleva is also a moron. The problem is state-wide. It goes deep and its not fixable. we've ridden the saban legacy as far as we could. now, our goal should be top half of the SEC. just like other state rankings, we will fight it out with mississippie and arkansas for 48-49-50th place in nearly every ranking of value.
Thoughts on BYU and the state of LSU

Our tigers really came to play. They were well prepared, executed a great game plan and dominated the three facets of the game. This despite fielding a ton of green faces. Kudos to our coaches and our team. We are going to have a good year. I think its clear that Aranda and Canada are best of breed.
Going forward, we gotta bulk up our recruiting. I'm concerned that our assistants are more short term oriented and not putting in the hours to out recruit the Bamas etcs. This may reflect their short term outlook, as they are likely going to bounce in a year or two to a HC position or NFL position. This is the main problem with the Orgeron strategy to have the best assistants. We will be burning over coaches quite soon. Other teams can utilize this fact to out recruit us. Do you really think Aranda will be sticking around another 4 years to coach your son? Nonetheless, lets enjoy this year while we have him.

re: How about some optimism for 2017?
Posted by hmstiger on 7/11/17 at 8:11 am
i'm optimistic because I'm an LSU fan and always wanting the tigers to well. I think we are now facing a new challenge: good coordinators with lower quality recruiting. With miles we had better recruiting but our offense was handicapped. This just illustrates how difficult it is to put together a program that is firing with all cylinders.
