1 - is worse. You get in and proven why you should not be there, again.
2 - you can always say you should've been there and could've won.

Well they have guest announcers on ESPN/CBS on the lead up shows all the time. How awesome would it be to have an SEC coach that already played the favored team and is due to play them again? That would be good TV.

At the beginning of the year I had a IC jersey, now I have a Brandon Smith one.

UGA could be 11-1 and playing for a shot at the NC. If they beat LSU now it will make the SEC look weaker.
When you play those games you have to win them.
If we had not played Boise the first game of the season, it may be gone differently. It would be funny to see us end up in a rematch in a bowl game against Boise and see how it goes now.

Sometimes you will see UoG but I think U Ga just evolved to UGA a couple hundred years ago and stuck. :dunno:

re: 2011 SEC Championship Game Info and Prediction Thread

I made a prediction. I am not attacking you or calling you names.
But you might want to check your facts.
Arkansas is a high powered offense, ranked 28th but UGA is mediocre ranked at 34?
Yes you are right, LSU has a better defense, ranked 2nd, UGA is 5th, Arkansas 51st.
Players are gonna talk, so what? Truth is UGA is the best match up left in the SEC outside of Alabama and that is what you are getting.
As for smoked? I disagree. Not because LSU isn't capable, but because all they want is a win, no style points needed to go the next game and keep everyone healthy.
I have attended an SEC game where we were 17pt underdogs and won by 17, beating the spread by 34. Vegas believes in one thing: money. They don't care about anything other than raking it in, but it does not mean they cannot be wrong.
To be honest, the biggest thing LSU should be concerned with is looking past this game and getting caught up. Although if you believe all the hype, win or lose, it looks like the result is the same. That too could be an issue if you know your destination is the same no matter what.
I want no part of LSU and would not want them playing backed up in a corner to GET INTO the national championship. However if we give you our best game of the year, you will have plenty to try and keep a handle on.

Walsh FG in the final minute to win it.
He'll miss it. Given he is Walsh and we are UGA, it would just be one more notch in the belt.
This game comes down to our O-line, if they have a Boise game, and cannot keep our Def off the field for any kind of drive:
LSU: 48
UGA: 17
If we have a solid line, game plan with roll outs, bootlegs, and screens to help keep drives alive:
LSU:24
UGA:21
If in the end we have a good game but don't get it done close, I would bet it is based on missed FG's and easy, open passes Murray inaccurately throws, not even under pressure.
If I remember correctly, last time we played LSU in the SEC Championship, we got embarrassed (for the second time that year by them). The next year they came to Athens and it was one of the loudest, most amped up games ever in that stadium. On a kick off, LSU was so flustered the return man brought it out of the endzone and then knelt down on the 2-yard line. One of the craziest things I have ever seen. Pretty sure we won big, but do not recall the exact score.
re: Get your good-byes in now...board is locking soon...

I'll bet something like the PAC12 and Big12 merge to form the PACBIG17 or something right after this board closes.

Well if this SEC expansion only, I would keep it until the divisions are settled.
If it is all conference expansion, it might be a while before the Big East, Big 12, and even ACC get settled.

I don't hate A&M (yet). I mean you are not Tennessee or anything.
If anything I kind of feel like you are being rescued. And once you are ok, safe, and home then we can stomp your face. However when you play anyone outside the conference, especially for the rest of the year in the Big 12, I will be pulling for you.

My guess would be you will still only play the normal allotment of conference games, 5 and 3, and just leave off one from your division.
Although the more likely scenario is that the SEC will be balanced and everyone will play 6 and 3.

41% of the tv viewership in Atlanta are college football fans. Second only to NYC in terms of pure number of overall fans. A great deal of those are UGA grads or tied to the school already. Adding GT, which UGA plays them every year already, would cannibalize some of what the SEC has and not really amount to a great deal for the net gain.
They are more a basketball school, so the ACC works better for them. Football, they are good about once every 20 years for a year or two before returning to average or below.
GT could play more SEC schools in its open weeks, but they don't. There's a reason. They just would not hold up. Who runs the triple option in the SEC and lives?
Sure they look sound, at times, against UNC and NCSt or Wake Forest, but those are not FL, UT, Auburn, AL, LSU, or even UGA (careful I don't get bit/jinxed saying that this year.)

re: What teams would rather be in the SEC than in their current conference?
Posted by h2odawg on 9/21/11 at 4:59 pm
No school in FL, GA, SC, AL, or MS will ever be invited ever again to the SEC.
I doubt any from TN. Kentucky is putting up a fuss, but I think there is a chance they might take one, but unlikely. And then, everyone else. The bigger the better and the closer the better.
My choice for 1 more would be Maryland. 3 more, OK and VT, if not saddled with OSU.
