I'm not a fan of Catholic high in the least, but this is just wrong.

I've been around the Prairieville program for a long time. I know you can't name more than 2 players that went to Catholic High. And trust me, these were not Star players.

LSU Bands will also be hosting over 300 high school kids at the game. Possibly over 600 piece band for the game. Pregame will be LOUD. :geauxtigers: :geauxtigers: :geauxtigers:

Definitely Eastnound right now...sitting in it...about a half mile before 1st exit.
Oh look, Fla benefited more....hmmm

Anyway you slice it, Fla is gong to come out better. Your AD was selfish, and SEC commish is weak. TRUTH!
Not sure if serious...You do realize that homework mainly exists for 2 reasons. One, to repeat and exercise the brain to gain further understanding of the subject, and most likely, two, to cover things the student did not get a chance to cover during class.

In the real world there are deadlines. Guess what in the world of education, there are deadlines as well. We lost 2 weeks because of the flood. By mid-term, we have to be caught up on all curriculum (which was already jam packed into the allotted time per class) Teachers are now having to fit a 90 days of classes into 75 days. So, some of the work will be added to the home environment. It's okay though, the student should be better for it though.
I'd actually love it. I would get paid for working 11 months instead of 9. Sounds good to me. Now, would I work those extra 2 months for no pay? Doesnt sound realistic, does it.
In Ascension, It depends on the High school the team feeds to. DTHS is more of a run style offense so that kind of determines the style of play. Maybe your school hasn't put pass plays in yet. I was at the other DTHS feeder. THere were about 6-8 pass plays for one team and the other was 50-50 pass-run.

I'm not a coach, just my observations.
quote:

Not true...when Roy took over after the departure of Wickes and Moorhouse, the band INCREASED in the number of students auditioning for the band!......and that was after Wickes had been there for over 30 years AND a disgruntled Morehouse had left. How do you account for that. In addition, college band numbers are up all over the country.

Roy was promoted from within. He had been there for around 15 years already. He was rooted in the program.

And yes, Dennis has been there for 2 years. But he was not part of the whole system.

And... For those students that left and didnt at least give Dennis a shot, I dont know if I'd want them around anyway.

Honestly, if you think that TGBFTL was as good last year as it was 10-15 years ago, then we will just agree to disagree. Changes needed to be made. There was a decline.
Irish, you sound like a very disgruntled Roy fan. No matter who is the tiger band director, it would be poor leadership in your eyes (unless it was Linda)

Here is my take. LSU needed new leadership in tiger band for the same reason it needs a new coach. People (fans) are getting tired of the same old stuff. If you dont see LSU was in a rut with show variety then you were a "sunshine pumper" Face it your boy is gone.

Now for numbers. Yes, I agree that the numbers are down. That is always the case when you replace a person who has been there for quite a few years. A lot of kids chose not to come back because of Roy. That was going to happen. However, I have several former students who are marching this year, and they seem to enjoy being there. Even the ones who were in band with Roy. I honestly think the band is headed in the right direction. Give it some time and the numbers will get back to where they need to be.

Seriously, Irish, You really need to find something to get happy about. You sound miserable. (and whiny)
Pretty sure all houses in Madison Place took water.
Somebody emailed this to me.

Here is a website of aerial photos that were taken yesterday. I thought it might help someone who had to leave their house.

Hey, this is the tall guy from the other end of your street.

The water has gone down in that ditch alot and the flow is slowing down. My friends in Madison said the water dropped enough out of their house and they are currently ripping out the carpet.

Ill give you an update in the morning.

Baton Rouge to Lafayette and back

Gotta go to Lafayette for business. What would be my best route..The Waze app says I-10 east is closed.
I like the idea of TOPS being paid at the end of the semester. If you make the grades and do your job as a student then you get paid. I would like to see the how the numbers would get effected just by getting rid of the kids who fail out.
You wouldn't have to change the standards at all.
You are correct, I will edit..
However, some colleges require for you to live on campus, that must be taken into account as well.

Im not debating that scholarships don't add up to much, I was just wanting to say that a 28 is by no means unattainable and the standards for TOPS need to be improved upon. If you need to make a 23 to get into a university, then shouldn't TOPS be close to that.
This is what at 28 on the ACT gets you as of today. LSU tuition and fees are around $4830. Tops covers 3950. A 28 gets you $750 a semester. You would still owe $130 for Tuition and fees..
What about ULL??? Tuition and Fees are 3500. Tops covers 3100. A28 gets you 1000 a semester. You would be +600 to go towards books and dorm.

My daughter is graduating this year and there are plenty of kids in her honors classes that have a 27 or better on the ACT. In state scholarships don't even look at you until you have a 32 on the ACT.

These are just the facts that I had to edit because I can't read properly

4 year tuition is about 38-40k…

Hell, I took out student loans, spent 5 years in college without tops. I owed 12k.
Times have changed.
