re: Golf elbow remedies?

Do lots of dead hangs, a few times every day. The classic RICE protocol has really been debunked over the last couple years and immobilization is arguably the worst thing you can do when looking at long term functionality.
Absolutely book the direct flights. We’ve flown a ton with infants and toddlers, the worst feeling in the world is being on a terrible flight (kids acting up) and knowing you have to get off the plane and do it all over again shortly after. The shortest total travel time is always the best solution.

I use it and think it’s been beneficial for me. Probably biggest thing I’ve noticed is improvement in my gut health. The rest may be placebo effect, but hey whatever works or makes you feel better, I’m all for it.

Now another thing to plan for is when the two parking garages are full (short and long term) and the only option left is the economy garage. You really need to look up online if the parking is full before you drive to the airport, so that you can add another 30 minutes to your planning.

If you know you’re flying out >24 hours in advance, the key is to pre book parking online. You’re guaranteed a spot even if the lot is full. Has saved me numerous times from having to make the trek to the economy garage

Second the barebells bars. Great for when I’m in a pinch at work and literally have no other food options.

Although I could do 50#, I think I’ll go the wise route and do 35# so I can still bend over comfortably all weekend

I just checked out the website and honestly that is about as far you can get from what we enjoy. That sounds like a miserable waste of 2-3 hours for us. Different strokes for different folks I guess

Apologies, I do believe they have the traditional chain restaurants there as well along with a super sized Diet Coke
You MUST have dinner at Diver XO in Madrid. Absolute best meal and dinner experience my wife and I have ever had. We also did the wine pairing as their sommelier just won the award of "best sommelier in the world." It's worth a detour and even scheduling around making sure you can eat there.
The problem I have with Detroit is the rental car situation. You have to get on a bus to get to the lot and it feels like it takes a while. Other than that, it’s a great airport.

I don’t really think it’s worth stressing out over reaching gold. The amount of platinum and diamond folks out there is incredible, making the free upgrades highly unlikely (which I think is the best perk of status)

re: Napa Hotel Recommendations

All of the BnB's in downtown Napa are fantastic. We stayed at the McClelland house and absolutely loved it. They do "happy hour" every night with wine and cheese and the owner of the house stops by and chats. They do breakfast every morning which is great, and we had a couple early days so they chef even came in early just to fix us breakfast. They're extremely accommodating and want to make your stay the best as possible. I believe there are a total of 5 rooms in the house. The owner told us Dave Chappelle stays there when he's in the area and rents the whole house out.
2 tickets for Dave Chappelle this Friday in smoothie king center. Asking $200 each which is what I paid. Section 114 row 17

Northlake Passenger Transportation

Nice little mom and pop business. You can reserve your time on the website. I've used them for airport trips, date nights, etc. Highly recommend and they drive you in a nice, new clean Expedition
Thinking about taking a trip later this year and doing a direct flight with Delta and bringing my pup along. However he’s too big to go on the plane so would have to fly cargo. Looks like since Covid it’s because much more of a cumbersome process, have to drop off at Delta Air Cargo and pick up there as well, no guarantees they’ll be on your flight, etc. Just wondering if anyone has done this and how it went.

Here is my recommendation, in order of preference:

1. Colgin (Ann Colgin - from Waco, Texas)
2. Peter Michael (Sir Peter Michael)
3. Fantesca (Heidi Barrett is their winemaker who made the iconic wine for years at Screaming Eagle)
4. Opus One (owned by Mondavi and Baron Philippine de Rothschild)
5. Darioush (did wine and olive oil tasting)
6. Chappellet
7. Quintessa
8. Far Niente (also owns Nickel & Nickel)
9. Nickel & Nickel (also owns Far Niente)
10. Joseph Phelps
11. Silver Oak
12. Schramsberg (mainly sparkling wine (not my favorite), but JD Davies is a good cabernet)

Had never heard of Colgin until I read your post. Looked into it and wow, rave reviews on their wines. We're going to Napa in August and booked a tasting at Colgin. Price is ridiculous but we'll probably never go again so worth the experience and tasting. Will report back after how it goes.

Golf in Madrid, Spain?

Posted by SuperDomed on 4/14/23 at 12:27 pm
Total shot in the dark here, but going to Madrid in a couple weeks and would love to play a round of golf while there. I’ve tried to book a public course there online, but even those seem to require some kind of local login requirement. Has anyone here ever played over there, or have any ideas or connections I can reach out to and try to secure a tee time?
