re: Favorite recruiting sagas

Reuben Randle was my favorite.
That one was wild. Deangelo Benton was a commit the year before, then had to spend a year at prep school but was committed again to LSU. Rueben Randle is the #1 overall recruit and is uncommitted up until signing day.
The rumor was that Randle wasn’t going to go to LSU, to avoid competing with his former Bastrop teammate. Instead, he goes to LSU and Benton goes elsewhere in the SEC (maybe Auburn?)

For those that may know, Is this a common tactic among recruits? How often do good players strategically choose Juco?
Mac Marshall comes to mind.

White is now batting .375 with a .944 OPS - firmly entrenched in the AL MVP race.

Crews had a nice diving catch to save a run, but he’s just lost at the plate right now.

Dylan has been horrible over the two weeks prior the the All-Star game, which is disappointing because he had put together a decent stretch before that. Now he is at .211/.270/.343 which is below his career averages
Super disappointing. He had his average up to around .240, hitting for power, starting to increase his walk rate, etc. Rough stretch lately.
There goes Adams.

Caught a Braves podcast the other day, and the 2 guys on said that Curiel was one of the few names they were hearing as options for them at 9. Neither liked the middle of the 1st round after pick 6 or 7, but did like the back half. Apparently the middle of the 1st is relatively weak. Which makes it kind of unpredictable. So Curiel probably does go somewhere in that 8-20 range.
Or #5
I want to hear confirmation from Tingus Pingus before I accept this news.

don’t know how Joey McGuire could put him on the field even if he is eventually ruled eligible. He’s already amply demonstrated that he can’t be trusted. First time he throws an int or fumbles, it’s gonna be suspect.
Very simply, Joey McGuire is getting paid $7 million per year to win football games, and if he doesn’t win enough to satisfy the fans/donors, he will get fired.

If you have one meal to do, I always just suggest El Barrio to people. It is the best bang for your buck spot in town. Food is really good and you also don't have to break the bank, it is in the heart of downtown with a couple bars you can go to before or after. Make sure to get the chorizo queso. They have a carne asada steak on the menu currently that is phenomenal. The chorizo meatloaf is another standard of theirs. I also get their green Pozole a lot. It is delicious.
I haven’t been to El Barrio in about 10 years, but the two things that I remember are the incredible elotes and the mezcal cocktails. I wonder if the elote dish would stand up to my recollection.

The flip side, TAMU didn’t have a national championship to show for it.

Maybe he can try a move to 2B in the offseason.

Stanfield’s legacy will always be leading the team last season during SEC play.

Several pitches called strikes have been low.
I’m not sure that we should give the .230 BA strikeout machines the benefit of the doubt on anything.

This entire season is an abomination. Nothing is acceptable about the way this team is structured or the way it competes. No one expects LSU to win the national championship every year, but to be this awful is unacceptable.
I would agree. It’s understandable that we might have a down year, especially with the injuries, but getting swept (and for the most part destroyed) 4-5 times this season is really concerning. Twice this season, they’ve given a sense of turning the corner, and then been flat-out crushed.

of course jay gets credit for skenes, eyanson, hernandez, dickinson. but ding him for bingham, yorke, caraway, yamin, dathe, simpson, etc.
Bingham and Caraway were from Arizona and Oregon State, traditionally successful legacy Pac-12 teams. Don’t forget to give them credit for the miracle work in 2022 when they brought in Gervase and Reyzelman from obscurity (Gervase has had a cup of coffee in the MLB).
Watching the recap on Wheels, the pitching is just inadequate. We were reasonably fortunate to keep them to 11 runs, based on how Schmidt kept working into jams and how hard they were hitting Sheerin and Guidry. Curiel had an outstanding catch in CF that saved at least two runs.
Having said that, most of their damage came with 2 outs, and in 2-strike counts. It seems like that’s pretty par for the course this season.
