re: Tiger Woods and drunk driving

actually he blew a 0.00...in fact he was NOT drinking. Pain pills may be another story
You don’t need to lower it all the way down. Sometimes 1-2 clicks open make a huge difference.

Have you guys tried to adjust the club to open on the hosel settings? My R7 sat closed to me as well. Opening it up made a world of difference.

I have the R7 13.5 and I love it. Started hitting it in the sim since December. I have a GD VF 7x in it playing at 43.25”. I like the fact that if I want to nuke it, it goes 285-300. If I want to get one in play, I can hit a little squeeze cut that goes 265-275. It’s much easier for me to do that with the shorter shaft of the mini. Driver SS is 116-120 for what it’s worth. I usually swing the mini around 113.

Biggest improvement for me is that the misses are much better than my driver. I will put it through the paces on the course soon, but I seriously doubt it’s coming out of the bag.

Learn to hit it hard first then learn how to tighten it in. Slow, non aggressive swingers struggle to learn how to hit the ball harder later in life. It’s better to get those muscles firing together when you’re young, they will stay with you as you progress and grow stronger.

It’s much easier to dial it back than it is to dial it up.
Getting fitted for a new driver in the next two weeks so that will change.

Currently:

GT2 9°-LA Golf A Series Xflex 60 @ 45”

TM R7 Superquad Mini 13.5- AD VF 7X 43.25”

Callaway OG Apex UW 19° Ventus Black 80x
Callaway OG Apex UW 21° Ventus Black 80x

Srixon ZXU MK2 3 iron 20°- Diamana Xflex

Srixon ZX7i 4-PW Oban CT-115x

Vokey Raw SM9 50F, 54F, 58V- S400 Onyx

Ping PLD Anser 30 SE or SC GOLO Experimental 6.2

Ball: ProV1 (may try 1x this year since ZX7i is lower spin)

Bag: Vessel Lux

I rotate out the top of the bag depending on course. Also updating to SM 11 this spring.
I joined one recently. Honestly I dunno why I hadn’t sooner. It’s only 8 minutes from my house. Fully private, 2 locations and limited to 240 members. 90 percent of tee times are booked same day. They put together a ton of events at the clubs, outside for real golf and out of town trips like Pinehurst. They have a bar and one location also has a gym. Great to meet people my age and have a place to blow off steam after work. It’s full trackman, so I really get to dial in the clubs. I make it there at least 3-4 times a week.

It’s a lot nicer than most of the simulator clubs.

Our dog did the same thing. Would drink a ton of water then later pee in the house. Ended up being diabetes. Two shots a day now, but she has perked up and has more energy than ever.
I play my best when I focus on looking at the front of the ball rather than the back of the ball. Right eye dominant for what it's worth. I feel like it helps me to compress it better. Works especially well on chipping and pitching.

I’ve had a few different bags over the past few years. My favorite one has been the Vessel Lux stand.
Stitch-nice looking but started deteriorating after a year
Titleist Carbon-nice and lightweight but the legs drop when you put on shoulders and that drives me insane
Vessel Player series stand-I’ve had for 4 years and it still looks pretty new. It’s been a great bag. It’s on the heavy side though

I’ve been putting my car keys in my range finder pocket so I don’t forget it. I used to forget to grab it all the time and haven’t since. Someone shared that tip with me and it’s helped tremendously.

re: Ventus Driver Shafts

Posted by Bigryno7 on 11/27/25 at 12:28 am to
I would test them if you can. Blue can get a bit spinny for me. My driver SS is 115-118 and I prefer black. I also have a shorter shaft @44” that is a Blue TR 6x I play. It’s tipped 1” to make it more stiff.

Black 6x and 7x are different in weight and handle stiffness.

Try putting the ball a little more forward that you usually do. Helps you commit to covering it. Narrowing the stance will also help with strike and prevents the chunk

re: Pebble/Spyglass

Posted by Bigryno7 on 11/8/25 at 10:49 pm to
I loved them both. The walk at pebble is about as good as it gets. Just enjoying the day out there is incredible. Spyglass is a tougher golf test, and I enjoyed it for that reason. I really enjoyed Spanish as well.
I have the 17, 19 and 21 versions of the OG Apex UW. I find the 19° the best. You can choke up and hit it shorter or fly it 260 in the air. The 17° is a rocket but doesn’t get as much height. The 19° is typically my second club in the bag and my fairway finder. Driver swing is around 117-118 for what it’s worth.
I’m a buy once cry once person. If there is something I want I will do my research and plan on keeping it for a while. I hate cheap shite
I’d agree on the GT2. Much better than previous 2 versions IMO. I’ve hit some insanely long drives this year with it. Forgiveness is pretty good as well

I unfortunately do not have any. I’ve gotten close on a Par 4 at Carter hitting the flag and another time at Santa Maria the same year but banged out.

I flew one into the edge of the cup last year from 155 out with a 9 iron and it shot off the green. I made bogey.

Wondering if I’ll ever get one. My ball doesn’t really move when it hits the green. High swing/high ball flight doesn’t give me a lot of chances
Carmel is a cool city to drop in. By 9pm though everything is pretty dead. We had a good time at Sadie’s which is a local dive bar. Cash only.

My only advice honestly is to care less how you play. Enjoy the walk and the views. It is spectacular. Do not ride in a cart. Splurge for the caddie and enjoy every minute of that walk. The views really are amazing.

re: 190 yards. What you hitting?

Posted by Bigryno7 on 9/7/25 at 12:57 pm to
Back pin-7 iron
Front or middle-6 iron

Right in the middle of clubs for me

I have a few different lob wedges I sometimes rotate if conditions change but I always use a 54° F 14 Vokey. My favorite lob wedge is a V grind Vokey from wedge works. It can do everything in anything but the tightest conditions and is a gamer from the fairway.

When the put lower bounce wedges in play my fairway 40-80 shot game is not as sharp.
