re: UPDATE* Ford Bronco Big Bend
Posted by GPayne on 8/10/26 at 12:11 pm to Burnt Reynolds
Bought my daughter a 2023 Outer Banks for college. I’ve been driving it until she leaves in a couple weeks. Looks good drives rough and is loud as hell even with the hard top. I can talk on the phone on Bluetooth without yelling. Not a great daily driver if you have to be on the phone a lot without just using your AirPods. Gas mileage is crap too. Daughter loves it. I hate it.

Seems really slow in here considering camp has started.

Or get stuck making cold calls and getting paid straight commission.
Say what you will but I’m in insurance. Started and had to make those cold calls for a couple years and built my own Agency with straight commission. No cap on straight commission and bonuses. After a couple years of grinding now I work from referrals so no cold calls and an existing block of clients that are loyal because we take care of them. Made over $600k last year and get to go on really cool trips every year. My wife works for the same company on the operations side and does really well too.
Yes the recruiting was a grind as well and you have to go through 10 to find 2 that will actually work but once you got your foundation built the residual income grows and less work the longer you do it.

The wife bought me an Oris. I think she spent about $3500 on it. I like it but would never spend that on myself. I don’t think I could pay 10 - 15k on one.

Jarrett runs the clubhouse at a golf club in Austin now. I believe he’s dating the owner’s daughter there. He’s always there working the counter in the clubhouse. Seems like a nice guy.

Texas Hill Country wine is not good.
Lost my son at the age of 20. For a period of time I thought about ending it myself. Then I went through another period where I didn’t want to do that but I didn’t really care if anything happened to me. I have 2 step daughters that are my world now. Then recently I had part of my kidney removed because they found a tumor. Luckily they found it early and got it all. But it was an eye opener that I am not ready to go and still have family to live for. I thought I didn’t care until they said the word cancer. Changed perspective real quick.

Well personally I have a wife and 2 daughters. When they are all synced up, I want to be at work! Definitely not home. But golf course works too.

I moved to ATX 4 years ago. I am definitely not a lefty and I love it here. Yeah there are major lefties here but so far everyone has been cool. It is expensive but there is a lot to do and food is great. Something for most everyone here.
Howard Be Thy Name
If he can’t handle game prep and a press conference then prolly not HC material. It’s part of the job.
Milk variety

First off if you waited until yesterday to go to the grocery store, I’m sorry. Now to the point of this post. Why are there 47 different varieties of milk now? I’m sorry but if it didn’t come from an animal it’s not milk. I’ve never seen anyone milk an almond or an oat. At this point they should just call it the nut juice section.
re: Married folks — do you and your spouse keep separate checking accounts?
Posted by GPayne on 11/22/25 at 10:07 pm to HoustonGumbeauxGuy
We have separate and have no issues. Both in our second marriage both financially secure and make good money. I have bills I’m responsible for and same for her. We have a joint savings and investment account. We have never once argued about money or who spent what.
