re: Invest HSA

Posted by chuckitdeep on 2/2/25 at 11:26 am
How do you keep track of your receipts? Is there a way you upload them to your HSA and get them approved but not get reimbursed. Seems like it could be a nightmare trying to keep up with 10 years of paper receipts.
i don’t have a lot of hunting experience but enjoying getting into it a little more. I shot a nice little buck this year with the ELDX in 6.5 CM at about 160 yds. The deer only went about 30 yards. My biggest concern was 0 blood and a tiny pinprick exit. Now there was massive damage inside the lungs and heart but I worry if he had gotten in the woods another 30 yds or so it would have been tough to find. Should I think about a different bullet. I love the 6.5 but am considering going with a .308. Any thoughts especially about bullet is appreciated.

I agree. That lady was weird and her voice creeped me out when I was little. Still does.

I was in a very similar situation. Wife and I were both teachers making about 100k total, wanting a family and wanting to invest in real estate for later. Biggest thing I had going for me was I got married so I had several years to pay down car note and sock some cash away before getting married and kids. Invested in a couple of trailers and over the next 15 years parlayed those into several houses and trailers. IMO you need a max of 10k for rent house repairs. Anything other than that could be put down for debt or saved for a vacation. I think it is important to enjoy your money responsibly. I got caught up in accumulation and didn't want to cut any of it loose for anything. I realized I needed to spend some for experiences with my wife, and family. We would take several vacations a year although it was 1500 long weekends to the beach or mountains. Never and still haven't taken the 8k Disney trip. You shouldn't be so house poor that you can't enjoy life. We have a nice house and nice vehicles (nothing extravagant but nice), so it can be done.
I have friends who are more extreme than me who do it on a one teacher salary with three kids. It can be done but they live cheap and he has several side hustles that he really grinds and supplements his income.
I respect the tithing of 10%. Malachi 3:10-12 God says to test Him with your giving.
You're on the right track but it still seems like it shouldn't be so tight that there isn't money for gas.

You don’t think large Pride, BLM, Confederate, Antifa flags flown in a pickup truck at a high school is not going to cause a distraction?

The rule was probably put in place specifically to avoid situations like the one I listed; not to prevent the American flag. Some of you are just being dense in this.
Most bus drivers are contracted to work for a set number of hours. I think it’s 6 in EBR. Usually they run their routes in about 3-4 hrs. When they get held to their contract they want to go on strike. Bus drivers are the only people who work part time hours but get full time benefits.

Anyone recommend the Champion or the Legend Force tiller. They are about the same price.

This is what the frick is wrong with schools, this is all they are worried about. They could give a flip less if the kids are actually learning anything thing.

Any decent school is not for this. . This is a political move by BESE to keep crappy school districts “scoring” closer to good school districts. No decent school is for this. Ex LP, AP, Central, Zachary, etc.

If anyone has any black eyed pea experience, I can use some help. I have something that is ravaging my Southern Peas. I’ve sprayed with 7 dust but still am having no luck. Would squirrels eat the beans like this? I am at a loss.

It definitely seems like something went wrong and you made some mistakes or you wouldn’t have gone to jail.
I’m more worried about making LP and even AP better. Wherever you are now I’m sure it’s perfect and glad you found a spot to be happy. LP and AP generally turn out some pretty good students and in this case LP deserved the salary increase to retain teachers and to attract new teachers.
Good one. Go back to jail. Sorry we didn’t all get to take time out of our lives to go sit in a 10x10 to see where went wrong and then pull out the “holier than thou” card.
Did you read the proposal for the tax? It specifically states this tax was for salaries and that is all it could be used for.
I may have left out Pre-k and special Ed. State requires certain curriculums. What other changes are there? I know they are constantly trying to fine tune the required curriculums but no huge changes I have heard. Some of the programs you listed aren’t bad at all. They just get thrown in the bad category by some because they don’t get to teach how they want and what content they want. Some of that is good and some is bad.
All that being said, none of that is the school boards fault. That is state requirements. As far as supervisors, you are way off. Compared to other districts LP is drastically understaffed.

Math education degrees require a full math degree, plus a minor in education and full year of unpaid student teaching.

Yes, but you don’t need that to teach and receive full teacher pay and benefits. College degree-you can teach. May have to complete a praxis at some point over a couple year period but unfortunately student teaching is just about a thing of the past. There is a great deal of learning that happens during student teaching.

Baton Rouge High is an outlier as they get to turn people away. Most schools esp. in LP have to accept anyone who lives in their district.
