re: Jeep owners, is this how you think we see you when on the road?

So an actual jeep. Jeeps, like Porsches, should have 2 doors and a manual transmission. I don’t see the point in owning either of the two if they have more than 2 doors and or an automatic transmission.
I found an older jeep like this with lower mileage. It’s something fun to drive around on the weekends with net doors. I’ve got a few ducks from kids, but don’t really understand the craziness. People are weird no matter what they drive.
If Venezuela could get a boat even close enough to strike the US, targets would be refineries, LNG facilities, and ethylene production facilities. Hit Corpus Christi, Houston, Lake Charles, and Baton Rouge you would cripple world wide energy markets and disrupt most of the world economy as ethylene is a building block for plastics used in everything.
This is also why the gulf coast is filled with air bases and naval facilities.

re: What's the biggest blocker on oil prices dropping?
Posted by The Goon on 9/3/25 at 3:22 pm to roll to victory
For onshore wells, it doesn’t make sense to sell at these spot prices. Oil is going into tankers waiting for the price to rise. Oil wells need service if a rod or pump breaks. All service is being delayed reducing oil production levels until prices increase.
Any oil being sold right now is just to maintain cash flow and keep the payroll at a minimum.

Interesting. If Maduro is gone and an actual government develops, this could be great for upstream oil and gas. I’d consider getting back in the industry if Venezuela doesn’t end up in anarchy for the next decade.
re: PMP Certification Question

Either lie or take the lesser PMP certification. They just want money. I am considering a PMP if my employer will pay for it. I have around 5 years running different projects with limited process control. I was basically herding cats for five years and put that as PM on the resume.

Why can France make and sell non pasteurized cheese without issues, but we still have constant issues?

My history is a bit rusty, but didn’t they get their shite pushed in by the British because they appointed some aristocrat to lead their armada?
I read a book a few years ago, “In Search of a Kingdom”, about Sir Francis Drake. Basically, Drake was a gangster pirate that robbed Spanish ships at will sailing around the world. He stole so much gold from the Spanish it set off the Spanish Armada and war with England. The Spanish crews didn’t know how to sail the rough waters around the UK and crashed.
re: 180K lbs of explosive ordinance was dropped on Fordow

quote:
F=M*A The velocity a 30k lb bomb reaches after a fall of 7.5 miles is the kinetic energy needed to penetrate the 60+ meters through concrete and rock. There is a time delay fuse that only explodes at target depth. That warhead only contains around 5k of explosives. The Mark-84 (2k bomb) used in WWII contained 945lbs of explosives. So the MOP has roughly 5.2x the explosive power as the Mark-84. MOP uses the kinetic force for penetration.
Also we have the ability to drop it in a 10’x10’ accuracy. Unreal what we can do with that much mass and detail.
The problem with regime change is that you’re not going to get rid of the Iranian Guard. The IRGC have control of the economy and will refuse to give that up. The wsj had a write up of how entrenched the IRGC is in everyday life of the Iranian people. They even have a membership card to get reduced prices at the grocery store.

Hopefully they closed the tehran airport. Last time the Iranian civil defense shot down a passenger jet with 250 souls on board
As per the wsj, all aircraft has been grounded in Iran.

He’s an officer. New orders in the US for the next year.
Had a friend just come back from active duty for the last 9 months. Great timing for him.

Had a few in my house too from the vents. Scared the shite out of me as I’m trying to sell my house. I thought I had an infestation.

What’s going on at 10-610? Just saw 30 cops head down 10 at the intersection.

Yes, yes they are. Just got an initial rate of 7.2% for a 30yr. Above 800 credit score too.
Charles Tyrwhitt online. Used to get 4 shirts for $180 that fit well and last 4-5 years wearing once every two weeks for an office corporate job.

First Phillips 66, now Valero. Are there going to be any refineries left in California soon?
California passed a law blaming natural disasters on climate change with oil and gas companies to blame. Any future fires and the existing refineries will have to pay damages.
I work an office job. I’m at 1300 steps, but I do leave my phone at the desk a good bit. Still, not much movement and the real killer are the 1500 calories when I meet customers for lunch. I think this job is killing me slowly.
Covid ruined my career in upstream oil. I’m really happy I’m out of that industry. Money is good when it’s booming, then you’re looking over your shoulder for HR when oil drops.
Great experience overall and worked some fun and challenging international projects, but don’t miss the downturns. I’m seeing production, reservoir, and product engineers looking for new jobs on LinkedIn right now.
