re: Anybody got the Stealth Core Trainer?
Posted by liuyaming on 8/14/20 at 12:04 pm
I’ve had mine for about three weeks. Wanted something to supplement running and build my core. I enjoy the games. They are fun and well designed to hit all areas of your core. Paid $15 ($10 off) at the time of purchase to get the premium games for a year. Our whole family uses it, so it works out well from a price per person standpoint.

I picked up this Shun knife set yesterday at 40% off but still happy with that deal. I received the same chef’s knife as a Christmas gift a few years ago, so I was excited to see a set with an extra slot in the block. They also had a very nice set of Miyabi knives left. But beside that, there wasn’t much left. I had my eye on a few scanpan cookware but they were gone.

I went in 2012 when I’ll Have Another won it. Didn’t realize how enormous Churchill Downs was until getting to the entrance. Different perspective on the venue than watching it on TV. They broke the attendance record that year with a little over 165k people. Would love to make it back there in the next few years.
re: Walmart grocery pickup substitution policy.

The substitutions usually work out in our favor. For this week’s delivery though, I ordered three of the crystal light flavor squirt bottles for the kids. They substituted it all with a caffeinated version. Definitely not giving that to the kids and glad I saw it before they used it.
The delivery is legit. I subscribed to the unlimited deliveries for $100 per year. I do at least one delivery per week and have started to have some delivered to my parents’ house so they don’t have to venture out to the grocery stores.

re: Volvo XC90 anyone have one?
Posted by liuyaming on 6/22/20 at 3:45 pm
All Star Volvo is probably the worst car dealership I’ve ever been to, from the sales process to their service department.
With that out the way, my wife got a T6 Inscription last year and loves it. It drives well and has a decent amount of pickup for a four cylinder. I don’t care for the infotainment system and touchscreen, especially compared to my Audi, which I’ve seen is moving to touchscreen on their new models.
Safety wise, it is top notch. The intellisafe system and maneuverability saved us from getting into a serious crash when a driver took a blind left turn on airline and Duplessis.

I’ve been getting my crabs and crawfish from a guy in Gonzales by Ralph’s, Doghouse Seafood
He posted today that he had a bushel of #2s for $100.

Pro Boil is definitely less salt.
It does have less salt than the regular. I personally prefer the extra spicy zats which I believe has less salt than all three.
If I remember correctly, zats extra spicy also has less salt than Louisiana and Slap Ya Mama, but it’s been a while since I compared them.
I like creating a flavorful stock with the seasoning, a small bottle of liquid, lemons and oranges, celery, garlic, and onions. I’ve started to add extra citrus between batches to help with the salty flavor that tends to build up between batches.
re: Any OTers here ever donated bone marrow? I got the call yesterday.

If I could live through a vasectomy conscious, especially with the smell of the cauterization, I think I would be ok with being awake if I had to.
Thanks again for all the info. You definitely helped alleviate some of the thoughts running through my mind.
Hope to update this thread in 6-8 weeks and hopefully again months after that.

I appreciate your post. Exactly what I was interested in. The person from the registry that called me was also a donor. I think I was too in shock (in a good way) to really comprehend the conversation that was taking place.
I am ok with whichever method they need to do. The bone pain thing weirds me out a little bit. Overall, I’m ok with needles and pain tolerance. Did you have any anxiety during the waiting period up to the procedure and afterward with regards to whether you would be a match after the additional tests and if the patient’s diagnosis would improve after receiving the transplant?

Will definitely drop everything to go donate if all works out.
Three objectives for my post:
Find out what donating is like
Give a call to action for others to join the registry
And yes, brag that I have been given a chance to try to save someone’s life

Thanks for the support everyone. When she asked if I would still consider Donating, I told her 100% yes. I would gladly sacrifice temporary pain to try to help save a life. I’m adopted, so any chance that I can pay forward the opportunity my parents gave me, I will.
Was mainly wondering about experience with the procedure options, or anything else I should consider. I’m leaning toward going under and the pelvic bone extraction. The shot seems like it would be a longer time commitment with faster recovery, but there is the potential for some side effects while it’s increasing bone marrow production.

About five years back, there was a local girl around 10 years old that was in need of a bone marrow transplant. One of my friends asked me to join the Be The Match registry. I ended up not being a match. Every now and then, I get the email asking to confirm that I want to remain on the registry. Other than that, I never think about it.
Yesterday I get a call from an unknown Houston number. I usually let these calls go to voicemail, but for some reason I answered. The person introduced themself and said they were from Be The Match and said that I’m a potential match for someone with a blood disease. This person had exhausted all options of testing relatives for a match, so they went to the registry.
To say that I’m excited to be able to donate is an understatement.
It especially hit me in the feels when they shared this video with me to post to my Facebook: LINK
I searched and saw a few posts about the registry from earlier this year.
Has anyone donated bone marrow for a transplant? There’s two options to donate. One is where they put you under and extract it from your pelvic bone. The other is by getting a shot that increases bone marrow production, causing it to flow into your blood stream where they extract in a manner similar to dialysis. There’s pros and cons to each.
Also, please consider joining the registry: LINK You could possibly save a life.

re: Anyone suffer from Gout?
Posted by liuyaming on 1/20/20 at 5:52 pm
Found out I have gout through a misdiagnosed meniscus tear. Went in for the knee scope and had gout crystals in my knee. Knee was perfectly fine and the crystals made it look like a tear on the MRI. While it sucked to have a knee scope to find this out, they also determined that I had been misdiagnosed with plantar fasciitis most of my adult life. I wondered why it would always flare up during the spring when eating a bunch of crawfish and drinking beer at boils.
Went to a rheumatoid specialist that put me on allopurinol. Haven’t had any major issues since, without any change to my diet. I had my first bad flare up in years this October while I was marathon training after one of my long runs, 14 miles I think. Said it was probably due to dehydration and took a prednisone taper to knock it out. Wasn’t able to train for about two weeks.
My general physician now keeps an eye on it instead of the specialist, and he tests my uric acid levels every year for my physical.
Hope it gets better for you.

I got the same Calloway rangefinder on prime day for $150. Have enjoyed using it so far.
re: SEO questions
Posted by liuyaming on 11/18/19 at 8:42 pm
I would be interested to see what their deliverables and metrics for success are for $2500 per month. The way people are searching for things and how the search engines rank websites are changing. I’m not sure I would go all in on just organic search. Is it purely search engine optimization that they are offering? Depending on your industry and market, I would diversify the digital marketing approach. It could be a mixture of Google Ads, SEO, paid and organic social media, and targeted display ads. Does it include making sure your website is optimized for lead conversion? Will they analyze your market/competition and give estimated results? It could be different than the market of the company that doubled their revenue.
Seems like a lack of breakdown on exactly what they are providing for the audit and $2500 per month. We break down estimated metrics for our clients per strategy and set of tactics to ultimately determine a cost per lead and cost per acquisition metric to achieve.

I like being able to walk through my house and go through the fridge to see what we need. We have the delivery option where Walmart partners with DoorDash. I use it almost every week. $10 per delivery plus tip. Walmart recently announced that they’ll be doing a $100 per year subscription service for unlimited deliveries. Will definitely be signing up for that.

My daughter really liked playing from 8-12 y/o. We would put her through various golf camps. It was really fun when I got to caddie in a tournament she played in. She lost interest though and is pursuing track and field pretty hard now. She lettered as a freshman last year throwing javelin, which I found out is another very underutilized collegiate scholarship. She’s taken an interest in golf again with Top Golf coming to the area, but I’m afraid she’s missed out on some important years to develop as a player. I’m ok with being able to have her join me for rounds to have fun.

Used it in Vancouver last year with no issues. I keep it on my plan now for future international travel. Unlike their previous discounted international packages that charged you monthly, it only charges you each day you use it out of the country. My wife has it on her phone and has used it for work in South Korea, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.
ETA: for all the international trips, it has used the standard package that we subscribe to plus the $10 per day. There are some countries that are excluded from the day pass.
