I think people who currently own a home are extremely out of touch of what the reality is for people who do not.
I was in school the last time interest rates were low. I have friends my age who were able to purchase a home at that time.
I don’t mean to complain — I am doing well, but in some cases I am paying almost double to rent a smaller, less nice house than friends in the same area that own just because of how out of control rent/interest rates are. I often wonder how people less well off are able to manage.
