Got a big shop across town if I want to work on anything serious. Got a great sound-treated room upstairs with an adjacent bar and library, a nice TV, big-time stereo, two doors worth of separation, and only one chair -- my mangy leather Lazy Boy I've spent 43 years breaking-in. It's the fortress of GD solitude, and I get all the Van Halen I want...
Bonus: No kids, and a great wife.

She was likely dead within an hour or two. Sad for the family. It's definitely taking it's toll. Savannah used to look pretty cute, and happy. Now she's looking rougher every day. Their lives will never be the same.

If you plan on keeping it, they are not worth the maintenance and repair costs. So, just lease if you can and always drive something new and under warranty.
The exception is any nice Porsche 911, or a collectable M-B or BMW. These hold their value or appreciate, so the maintenance expense have an ROI. But these are a different deal and I would not consider those cars to be daily drivers (Porsche can be driven daily, but is then subject to depreciation and wear just like a normal car).
I'd keep the econoboxes for a while, and save up and buy a nice 911 that will go up in value, and which you probably will not be able to afford or prioritize you start a family.

My point is the US CANNOT directly engage w/o risking nuclear war. This will not happen.

The data about Russian losses of both men and materiel are pretty well established. I'm not hearing much about endless waves of Koreans much lately, either. I guess they are all gone, too.
The U.S. will not engage directly - for many reasons. First of all, we don't have to. That said, whatever Putin's end game is, it does not include self immolation, which is what he would do if he ever responds with nuclear weapons. It's bluster.
We likewise have no reason to go into Ukraine directly when Russia continues to bleed out by the day.
And every day this drags out hurts Putin more than it does Ukraine.
Ukraine will never quit. Russia may eventually win, but Ukraine will fight to the last man, and that guy will take 100 Russians with him.
