re: Does BK's contract allow for buy-out to be paid by installments like Coach O's?

Yup. I would be very surprised if he gets the entire $53M.
He will want what the present value of $53mm is over 5 years, combined with his new compensation. That's all he would have received if he wasn't fired, and he'd have to pretend to work for it.
re: This lawsuit is just posturing by Kelly. $25m & $30m offers weren’t enough.

Kelly knows he's damaged goods now coming off a failed LSU experiment and no certainty he gets a great rebound opportunity. He'll accept a number that he's confident would allow him to surpass $54mm based on additional coaching compensation.
THIS is all that matters. The lawsuit is just a motivation tool. Fans should stop working to add drama to the situation; THAT"S what will harm LSU long-term, not firing a coach.

Great! Then we just need to keep paying him the $800K monthly. LSU needs to determine BK's likely market value within the next 4 years, then present a lump sum number that yields him more present value than waiting for a 4-year payout. That's the analysis Kelly's team is doing. We should know within a few weeks.

If so, the leverage LSU has is two-fold: (1) time value of money (think Lottery winner lump sum), and (2) BK weighing the likelihood he will work again somewhere in football (coach, commentator).
If BK thinks he will work again within the next 4 years, there's a lump sum number he will take knowing it won't be subject to an off-set from his new paycheck.
Firing for cause? Fuggettaboutit!

re: Why is it always doom and gloom here? BK has don’t plenty to fire for cause

Going in the direction of "cause", even assuming it was not time-barred by the terms of the contract itself, is a 3-5 year debate in court.
This will be settled based on the time-value of money: lump sum (how much) v. installment payments. Kelly will weigh an offer of a lump sum v. the likelihood of him working in football in the next 4 years in some capacity. Lump sum = no set-off from other jobs.

I highly recommend the Game Day buses. Pick up is downtown (used to be by Past Time but maybe changed) and at L'Auberge.

If you're not going to bring enough for everybody in your section, don't bother.

Whether or not Kelly visited or contacted Brooks, Jr., and the frequency thereof, will have little to no impact on the liability question. Purely an "influence" the general public effort. As is has been said, anyone, at any time, can sue anyone or any ham sandwich over any issue whatsoever.
