re: Mississippi St players wearing earpieces?
Posted by smashworth on 3/21/24 at 8:36 am
I almost posted that, they knew location, not type of pitch. Especially on Sunday they hit HRs and all the big hits on pitches that were out of the strike zone. Like the HR from Jorden was slider below the strike zone . The HR to right was almost in the other batters box. The double to right from J...

Living in the past
Posted by smashworth on 12/30/23 at 11:18 am
LSU will not have a player on defense drafted in the first 5 rounds. In the past, this would not happen. We can blame recruiting, NIL, portal, CEO, false rankings, CBK and development, but scheme can not be blamed, by itself, IF you don't have the players. Not saying DC is good, bad, but the combo...
re: Do we win the national title if Aranda is coordinator this year?

The DC put the players in position to make tackles, the players did not tackle. Not DC problem. They have coach and practiced tackling. Players did not execute Alabama’s did. ...

re: What’s more of the problem with the balls/walks?
Posted by smashworth on 5/8/23 at 5:10 pm
Constantly pitching backwards has caught up to us. Throwing off speed in hitters counts has lead to many of the walks. Full count sliders and curveballs that are thrown for swing and miss, not strikes. This worked well for us but teams have adjusted. ...
re: Walks This Season vs previous years

Our coaches would rather walk them than give up hits? Full count breaking balls. Rarely give in to hitters with fastballs. Tons of off speed in hitter counts. ...
re: Skenes, Coleman and Hurd
Posted by smashworth on 5/1/23 at 7:54 pm
The walks have a lot to do with the pitches called. Full count breaking balls, over and over. Only chance to not walk them is for hitter to chase. Not many breaking balls thrown or called, by coaches for strikes. Coaches would rather walk them. Not on the pitchers. ...

re: 2023 LB Tackett Curtis mid season highlights

It will take he awhile to get on the field at the next level. He has zero responsibility, does not have to take on blocks or cover anyone and never had to backpedal. The defense is designed to showcase him, uncle the coach, dad the principal. Lines up 6-7 yards deep and runs untouched to the ball. H...
