It seems like they are doing controlled burns in the area every other day. I am tired of seeing smoke everywhere and breathing it while running. It seems like they are just burning the entire forest for some reason.
From Jensen Huang yesterday:

"the amount of silicon photonics technology capacity that we need is substantially higher than the world has today"

Nvidia invested 2 billion in each a couple weeks ago. Jensen is always ahead of the game in securing the supply chain.

AAOI is currently doing $134M in quarterly revenue and guided $4.5B in the full year 2027. It seems they have more execution risk, so I like the more established names more. Demand is through the roof.

I haven’t looked into ADTN much. Small market cap. It looks to have debt and margin issues, but I don’t know the background on it. I’ll look into it some more, but on the surface, it looks more risk than I want.

Some more names just for fun:

Is it better to run the 2s and 4s at 8 and 16 paces respectively? How much rest between reps?

Generally,
800m-1600m race pace for 200 & 400m repeats.
2-3 mile race pace for 800 & 1600m repeats.

Rest for 200s and 400s: 2-3x repeat time
800s and 1600s: rest equal to repeat time or slightly less than repeat time

Check out Daniels Running Formula for more information on workouts and setting up a training plan. I would trust what the coach is doing though.
If she is used to 20 mile weeks on 5 days, I would slowly increase the weekly mileage and change to running 7 days a week over the next couple months. Probably end this track season around 25-28 weekly miles.

I would stick to body weight for strength training. Squats, lunges, box jumps, different plyometric jumps & skips. I would do it on the same days as the core workouts once or twice a week.

Everything else is very similar to what I have my runners do. I have a 7th grader at 2:39, 5:50, 12:39 and a 6th grader at 2:52, 6:00. I have barely introduced strength training to them yet. They are both averaging 20-25 miles per week this season.

2:34 & 5:42 in 8th grade is pretty solid. I would trust the coach if he says yes or no to mileage increases or additional strength training.

SNDK up around 106%
WDC up around 39%
STX up around 11%

MU up around 55%
I have been in the 50-70 mile range a lot the last 2-3 years. Recently lower in the 30-40 range with some issues popping up. Wasn’t expecting to be in that good shape
Forgot to update, but I got a 1:19:45 Half Marathon PR within the last couple weeks
Only 5 Americans in the top 30. Terrible for the sport. It is trickling down to the lower levels too. Roster spots that should be going to Americans.

The course cutting in the men’s race was embarrasing. Every one of the guys that cut should have been disqualified. I wouldn’t tolerate that blatant cheating in a time trial at practice.

1619 is the highest I have been
8 miles is definitely a reasonable long run for 5k training. Question is, has the runner properly ramped up mileage over time.

I generally recommend increasing mileage 3-5 miles each week, with an easier week every 4th week. And increasing peak mileage by not more than 15-20 miles each year. (15 in most cases).

Long run should generally be between 20-30% of weekly mileage.

I focus mostly on 5k training, my long run would usually be between 14-18 miles when I am at peak mileage of 70-80+ miles per week.

I wouldn’t be concerned with weekly 8 mile long runs if the runner has previously ran around 25 miles per week.
Ran in the afternoon. Had 900 calories for breakfast, 700 calories for lunch. About 80oz of water total before the run. 1 gel right before. I do 15-18 mile runs fairly often with no gels and no water during. Pretty much always in the afternoon with 1400-1800 calories already on my stomach.

@pedro, no comment so I don’t dox myself. I don’t know any runners from ULM though. I wasn’t very good in college though
Yes, ran in college.

Moving time 2:32:07, elapsed time 2:32:26. Paused at 0.04 mile because I started running before I took off my shirt and paused to walk around a water/mud puddle
Been running for 10-11 years. Been going 50-70+ miles per week the last 2-3 years.

I would definitely take carbs and drink water during a marathon. Have not raced one yet. Not training for one until probably next year though.
Did not have any issues. I haven’t taken gels mid long run before. Heart rate was towards the bottom of zone 2, wasn’t running hard, did not feel like I needed any carbs/energy. I would have drank water last 3-4 miles but I don’t carry any with me. Was’t bad though, no dehydration symptoms. I usually get 150-200oz of water per day so I rarely have hydration issues. Temperature and humidity were both good so that helped.
21.3 mile long run, 7:07 pace 122 avg heart rate in Brooks adrenalines with 1 gel at the start and no water

I didn’t see any news. Do you know why it spiked?
