It’s an LSU home game at NRG stadium, LSU is the designated home team and LSU will get $4 million or 45% of the ticket revenue

Its seems weird though, that all 3 of LSU’s annual opponents have 5 home conference games in 2026, but LSU only gets 4 home conference games.
Wasn’t his decision Clemson was already scheduled to play at South Carolina in off number years so to get 7 home games, Clemson had to play LSU at home.

Same for Utah they only have 4 home conference games in 2031.

Arizona state only has 4 home conference games during even number years so if the series does get moved to 2034-2025 then LSU will have to travel to Tempe AZ first.
Probably won’t happened till 2027 anyway according to FBschedules.com
Then how does Notre dame and navy spilt ticket revenue for navy’s home neutral site games? Notre dame has to at least get 30 to 40% of the ticket revenue.

So if LSU and Tulane did play at the superdome, it will probably be 60% 40% ticket revenue split.

But why would LSU be stupid enough to give up 60% of the ticket revenue at the superdome, when LSU can just play Tulane @ tiger stadium and only pay Tulane a guaranteed of $2 million or less.

Even if LSU did agree to play at the Superdome, LSU would want control of the ticket sales since majority of the fans will be LSU fans. Ticket split would be 80% LSU 20% Tulane or 70% LSU 30% Tulane.

So real question is why would LSU play Tulane at the super dome, when LSU can just play Tulane at tiger stadium?

If LSU wants to play in the superdome then play a P5 opponent then, is no reason why we should be playing a group of 5 on the road or a neutral site game.

Tulane will never agree to play a single guaranteed game at a P5 their future power 5 games are all home and home series against lower level P5 team.
1. I’m hoping LSU doesn’t get Alabama as a permanent opponent because, LSU could end up having a home Halloween game. That would be my first Halloween LSU football game.

If I was in charge of ESPN, I would try to do a Halloween triple hitter

October 31 2026:
11:00 am CT Florida vs Georgia
* 2:30 pm CT Alabama @ Tennessee
* 6:30 pm CT Ole Miss @ LSU
I understand the heat part of playing a August game but playing week 0 vs week 1 vs a G5 or FCS shouldn't be different. playing New Mexico State week 0 vs week 1 ya the outcome of the game would be different, but at the end is basically a payment game and a win for LSU. I’m up for LSU playing week 0 game to be able to get a 2nd off week to use before a sec game. Having 2 off weeks In a 13 week schedule, is basically same as playing a 14 week schedule. At the end is LSU decision to play a week 0 game if it chooses too, even though there’s certain fans who don’t want LSU to play a week 0 game based on their own opinion and beliefs.
100% correct also northwestern state is playing at Hawaii in 2027. So lsu could schedule northwestern state as a 2027 FCS opponent.
Home game cause TCU & North Carolina are playing in Ireland 2026

For week 0 game will probably be against New Mexico State at home during week 0 because they play at Hawaii in 2026

2027 would be Northwestern state as they are playing @ Hawaii
2026 probably Death Valley
2027 or 2028 at Alex box stadium

Since 2024 most of lsu sports example
Baseball softball women’s basketball exc all had to play at Texas during the first year.

Women’s basketball has Texas as a home and away opponent this springs

LSU baseball isn’t hosting Texas in football or baseball and probably won’t in softball

wasn’t suprised that we play Tennessee for the third straight year

I am surprised though that LSU didn’t get a top 8 ranked home opponent based on last seasons sec tournament seeds.

vs Florida #10
vs A&M #14
vs Kentucky #13
vs Oklahoma #12
vs South Carolina #15

@ Tennessee #8
@ Mississippi State #11
@ Ole Miss #7
@ Georgia #5
@ Vanderbilt #4

Meanwhile Texas only has 3 top 8 opponents

@ 4 Vanderbilt
@ 8 Tennessee
vs 7 Ole Miss

If based on past home and away matchups

Away:
Florida
Ole Miss
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
Mississippi State

Home:
Georgia
Texas A&M

3 opponents:
Auburn
Oklahoma
Texas
South Carolina
Usually neutral site games, its a neutral power 4 officiating crew that the event host will secure depending on what is written on the contract , for the LSU vs Houston 2027 game it will be a neutral power 4 officiating crew.
If lsu schedules an international game, should be played at a larger stadium so either Estadio Azteca in Mexico City,
Stade de France in Paris, Wembley stadium in London or in Madrid Spain.
I think it would be be Vanderbilt or Kentucky. Missouri wouldn’t give up a huge home campus game vs LSU, Arkansas is to big of a game for them so it would have to be either Vanderbilt or Kentucky. If we could get a 2024 Vanderbilt team every season moving forward then that would be a good Ireland game to go to , but other than that, it wouldn’t be a even matchup it’s a top half sec team vs a bottom of the pack sec team. But if I had to choose it would be Vanderbilt. Even thought Kentucky football dropped in the standings last few years they still have a huge fan base and a lot of people know that football isn’t Vanderbilts sport , so it would make sense for Vanderbilt to play in Ireland to help with recruiting. But at the same time Kentucky has a larger football fan base, so there will probably be a lot more Kentucky fans who would travel to Ireland, compared to a baseball University like Vanderbilt.

I know the big 12 has been trying to start a kickoff game in Mexico City at Estadio Azteca stadium 87k capacity.
The E AD ausberry said if a weaker OOC P5 opponent or a weaker conference opponent wants to play their home game in Dublin, then we will do it.
LSU will never play their home game in a 40k seat capacity stadium, even if we already have 7 home games on the schedule.

Based on past Ireland matchups, LSU would get their expenses paid, so between $200k and $250k, plus 5% of the merchandise so that would be a good deal. Save money on expenses and get 5% of the merchandise, which we wouldn’t get if it was an away on campus game.

It’s basically called home away from home cause of how small the stadium is and low game guaranteed is for the home team.

So why is a lot of LSU fans making a big deal for playing in Ireland ? LSU is not getting a guaranteed it’s just basically an all expense paid trip. Most of the fans aren’t going to the game anyway, it’s mostly going to be wealthy donors and adults who can afford to travel to Ireland, so that’s about 5k to 10k LSU fans who would and can afford to go to the game.
Move Arizona state to 2034 and 2025 season that is Arizona state next available seasons. SMU is a closer opponent and more fans would be willing to go to Dallas / Arlington for the game instead of flying all the way to Tempe Arizona

Also Arizona state buyout is only $150k per game
SMU buyout is $2 million for both games total

Most P5 teams are canceling or moving a P5 home and home into to 2030s

2027

2028:

2029:

Will never happened Tulane AD wants a standard home & home meaning 1 for 1. LSU would only agree to play at tiger stadium makes, makes no sense giving up a home game just to play at a 30k capacity stadium instate. when everyone knows that, there won’t be that many Tulane fans at the game at their campus stadium. LSU will also only agree to play at the super dome, if LSU can can control the ticket sales and split, which would most likely be between 85% LSU 15% Tulane or 70 % LSU 30% Tulane. Last time LSU played a G5 at a neutral site was 2017 vs BYU, LSU was paid $4 million and BYU was paid $2 million. So what’s the point of paying Tulane 20% to 30% around $2.5 million to $3 million, when LSU can just host Tulane at tiger stadium for $1.6 million guaranteed.
I understand the recruiting and learning experience side of the trip, but is it actually worth it. LSU will probably lose between $6 million to $8 million in ticket revenue, parking, and concessions. As the D AD said already, LSU will never play their home game in Ireland. So as the away team, LSU won’t get a game guaranteed. Only thing LSU would get is all expenses paid and 5% of the merchandise. Iowa state and past away teams were only paid $250k to cover expenses and 5% of the merchandise sales.

My next question is why did Michigan decide, hey let’s play our home game vs a western Michigan team that is located less than 3 hours away, and let’s give up our on campus home game, to fly all the way between 8 to 10 hours to play in Germany.
