so he can retire. I’m sure this had something to do with putting Bama in at 4. The rest of college football is just waiting to see who takes over the throne, this way it will be sooner than later.

Smart definately has the potential to surpass Saban in a few areas. It will all depend on keeping recruiting levels high and keeping the 2's and 3's on the roster. I just feel that these 4 and 5 star kids are not going to sit a year or two when they know they can start at another school. The Portal has given them too many opportunities to transfer to play immediately. Also, once you are at the top, asst coaches want to be head coaches. So being able to plug a new coordinator or assistant into your program and continue success is what Saban has been very lucky to accomplish. Only time will tell. But Smart is off to a good start.

Today, with the transfer portal and NIL, why in the world would Nussmeier want to wait a year with hopes of playing in 2023 and being the starter in 2024? Why would he not want to transfer and start immediately at another SEC school? You hear former players saying that they would rather have been a starter at a G5 school than 2nd/3rd in line at a P5 and hardly see the field. Nuss has the ability to transfer laterally and start. He's gone before spring...

With the new NIL stuff and and open transfer portal, can colleges require kids to commit contractually, like an employer who offers hiring incentives? Has anyone tried this avenue to retain players?

Had to seed these teams like this. No one wanted to see UGA vs TCU. That game would only solidify the fact that the committee made an error putting TCU in the Top 4.
