He was great on both sides of the ball. Needed to work on dribbling with this left hand but other than that was a threat from just about anywhere and rebounded and played defense.

It's not just overcoming injuries but more about who is injured. NCST beat UNC by 20. UNC was without 2 of their top scorers so yeah it's more about who was injured and everyone knows that DJ was the key to this team. You lost scoring and your player that makes everyone around him better. And you lose one of your most talented experienced bigs that can hit the 3 which opens up the lane and can take his man off the dribble as well as help on the press. This isn't about whether Mcmahon is a better coach than Wade. I'm not defending Mcmahon because I believe there were games he still should have won despite the injuries but again with a healthy Reed and DJ I believe thus team finishes in the top 8-10 of the league.

Again you aren’t being intellectually honest you are being emotionally biased. The one thing I think Wade has over McMahon is evaluating talent. But even he has had issues at NCST with a $12 million budget and a preseason POY candidate. No guarantee he overcomes the loss of Reed and DJ with this team. I do agree there are games he still should have won but to say with healthy Reed and DJ this is not a tournament team is emotional stupidity.

This was a tournament team with healthy Reed and DJ. Even with healthy DJ they win a few more games. And Texas Tech had been one of the biggest NIL spenders in the NCAA the last couple of years so I would say their bench is much better than ours. That being said the issue with this team has been inconsistency. You play AL close then get rolled by OK. You play Tennessee close on the road without DJ and McKinnon then get blown out by Miss St. The margin is very thin for this team as far as injuries but there were games they should have won at home. Anyone who thinks this team is not a tournament team with healthy Reed and DJ are just haters but the reality is I don’t think McMahon can recover from where he is. It’s time for a change and hopefully they have Wade waiting in the wings. If not it’s going to be another crap shoot as far as hiring another coach.
From what i understand his base salary at NCST is still less than Mcmahon but his incentives increase it a lot. And yes the rumor is NCST has not been holding up their end of the bargain. Plus it is well known he and his wife loved it here. Him returning is not as unbelievable as you think. And the future of the Big12 could also be a factor. After all he is an analytics freak.
Because the reason they canned him no longer exists. You cannot blame him for doing what every other successful program and coach was doing. he just got caught. It sucks but it is forgivable.
Anyone holding a grudge against Wade doing what every other successful program was doing is comical. If they are going to fire McMahon better to have the guy ready to replace him. Otherwise you are just rolling the dice on another mid major coach. And saying he never got past Sweet 16 as a negative is also stupid. He’s a young coach and can develop and mature just like a player. As much as I wanted McMahon to be successful, and I do think it sucks that he wasn’t able to show what they could do with a healthy Reed and DJ,this would be a hire I would be on board with if they can get him. Season ticket sales would blow up overnight.
If they are going to fire McMahon this is the only way it makes sense with the buyout and monies involved. Gotta have a coach they want ready to come. I still believe this team finishes in top half of league with a healthy DJ and Reed but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I’ve heard it’s a done deal with Wade coming. We will see.

re: Did Sutton get hurt?

Sutton is soft and inconsistent. If he played every game like he did in the Alabama game he be All SEC. And this team would have a few more wins.
I remember being at a HS party and watching that 1978 kentucky game. the whole place was going wild with the starters fouled out. And I was at the fricking Super Bowl in New Orleans for the Loyola Marymount game. Truly pissed me off as that was one of the worst Superbowl blowouts ever while my brother and friends were at the PMAC watching a classic. And I was living in Las Vegas at the time so got into many arguments with UNLV guys about who was better. Won a lot of money off them with the LSU win in 1990. They were so confident they were going to win they bet me straight up.Didn't even take the points. I believe they were getting 2.5-3. Also beating Memphis with the last second shot by Anthony Wilson in the NCAA tournament game at the PMAC. Has to be in the top 10 along with the win over Ga Tech.
It’s literally the same thing every year. LOL. Even last year the pitching was suspect early on but by tournament time it all worked out. You definitely can’t judge a pitching staff this early.
My bad. Marlon Taylor not Maurice Williams. Got them mixed up.
Jerry Reynolds was an awesome player and probably better all around player than Stromile. He out played Michael Jordan when LSU played UNC that year. Stole the show and pretty much solidified his rank in the NBA draft.
As far as ranking LSU dunkers:

Stromile Swift
ShaQ
Tyrus Thomas
Ronald Dupree
Jerry Reynolds
Maurice Williams
2 players avg almost 20 ppg. But the experts here will tell you injuries don't matter.LOL. Now take NCST top 2 scorers off the floor. Then you will see the injury excuse big time.
Not having 2 starters avg almost 20ppg each is not an excuse. Great win for Wade but put it in perspective after coming off a loss to Miami. Take Wades 2 highest scorers off his team and let’s see how he does. Texas Tech lost Toppin to injury with 6 minutes left last night and lost to Arizona State. Yes injuries matter.
tionrady was a well known a-hole. even to students. Kinda like the Orgeron situation. When you are winning people will put up with your crap. If you start losing and are still pulling the same crap, not going to go over well. Saban was an abrasive a-hole but he won. Once Brady started losing they didn't want to keep an a-hole so they fired him. he has mellowed since then and was probably humbled after the firing. He could definitely coach as he showed his first year with all of the sanctions and no depth.
Tang was fired with cause because of a statement he made about his players. Now they probably used that as an excuse and it remains to be seen if he appeals but not the same situation.
You may be wrong about that. I know a lot of BBall boosters and they are about at the point of saying screw it let's move on. Especially if Wade is open to coming back which is the current belief at this time. Not so sure they are excited about possibly having to hire another mid major coach.
I'll be doing happy hour for my valentines date. Gotta know how to marry up.
One thing is for sure. They hire Wade and season tickets sell out and the PMAC would be packed for the first game. I consider Wade a good coach, not a great coach, but a great talent evaluator. He will get the players. But he's also young so can he become a great coach? Even coaches learn and develop. Will see but I'm Ok with the hire. If they can't get him I'd look at the St Louis coach.
