re: Saban ran cover for Lane

Maybe Saban felt bad beating LSU all those years in Bama. I mean this university did make his career as well. Hope this results in a big decade for us.

quote:

he doesn’t care and isn’t trying?

If his first option isn't there (usually a 5 yard throw), he panics and breaks out of the pocket every time. His priority is not to get hit and injured - instead of letting a play develop and finding an open receiver. He cannot be injured enough not to go through his progressions. Nuss is showing he cares about not getting injured ahead of the draft.

Early in the season, Nuss had wide open areas to run when a play had broken down. He always threw an errant pass instead. The talk of the off-season was getting Nuss running for 5/10 yards now and then when needed, Kelly mentioned it as well. Nuss wouldn't do it. You could argue he's always been a pass first QB, I would argue he was a 'let's not get injured and hurt the draft stock' QB.

Until the last game or two, Nuss limped or hobbled off the field (only to return unscathed) multiple times a game when sacked or hit. He was obviously fine the next drive, so why act injured? Perhaps evoking sympathy from the crowd? This can't be proven of course, though when it happens dozens of times in a season - it can't be ignored either.

Nuss was thinking NFL

After last year

Trying to escape at the slightest pressure, not stepping into the pocket and acting injured after every sack were signs of a guy who thought 'just a few good games in my final season and I'll be a 1st round pick'

This is how money and fame destroy you.

Let this example be given to every big time LSU player going forward.

What does this mean for Nuss?

Frank Wilson has to think about using MVB more this season? Short leash?
What's wrong with just enjoying football because it's just that good! Same with hotdogs, burritos, curry or sushi?

We absorbed the 'best' of the past and they will absorb the best of now.

You and I can debate countries, values, cultures etc, kids' taste buds and likes for things that are genuinely awesome do not.
Ah true, non-homer view

Yet just 2-3 head coaching decisions and it could have been different. The agony.
And Miles was fired for under-performing with the talent and $ at hand!

With a good coach, we should make it 7 out of 10, given the talent levels in Louisiana, even if we have under-performed for one reason or another.

We didn't hire and pay a top coach $100M to make it 5 out 10 times - that would be a disappointment.
I'd say 7 or 8 out of 10 years we should be. 0-1 for now.
May or may not be true

But your tone is off, he's a college athlete doing the best he can for his future. He owes you nothing.
He wasn't setting his legs and stepping into throws prior to that drive, I was not very hopeful.

But he found something last night, sometimes you have to play through the bad and find the body movements and alertness needed to win it.

If you can win on a 'bad' day, you get a certain confidence.

I know what you mean, it does mean something that he's 'Forever LSU'. The BRAND is BIG right now.
Hopefully Underwood looks at Jayden Daniels and understands that $4M is nothing compared to what a good NFL ready-QB school can make him.
