re: Most realistic coaching options LSU

I don’t think Dabo would leave Clemson for anyone except MAYBE to replace Saban when he retires at Bama. He basically is Clemson football at this point. His kids go to school there right now. I don’t think he is going to leave what he has built there over the last decade for a job at LSU

If it’s close competition then no, the numbers may not be the end all be all. I do think though that if Fields has 1 loss, less touchdowns, and less yards than an undefeated Lawrence, Fields will not win despite better SOS.

Big numbers are big numbers. If Trevor Lawrence has an impressive enough season he can still win it. Especially if other big names have a couple losses and Clemson goes undefeated.
The one thing you have going for you is with an easier schedule DJ might get a lot of reps which cuts down Trevor’s stat sheet.

Don’t know if there is actually something to read into with the gloves or if he just likes them because LSU has the coolest gloves. Hope we land him either way

I’m excited about Nuss. I’ve always preferred pro style over dual threat and the NFL backs me up. If we get Williams I hope we get both.
re: Is Clemson still saying their schedule should not matter

I know people on here hate on Clemson for their schedule, but it hurts them just as much as it helps them.
Sure they get a cake walk to the playoffs but let’s be real. They have elite talent on both sides of the ball and would probably make it there every year anyway if they were in any conference but the SEC. the problem is once they get there they aren’t battle tested. Their guys might be healthier from less tough games, but they also haven’t had to go all 4 quarters is a single game the whole year.
I guarantee you that Clemson wants the ACC to be better than they are. That’s why they have been scheduling tougher OOC games down the road (I.e. us in 2025 and 2026)

re: Will Marcel Brooks remain at LB?
Posted by Tiger_x2 on 12/9/19 at 8:50 am
I think it could be awesome if he would play both. Look at Isaiah Simmons who just won the Butkus at Clemson. He has lined up all over the place this year. If Brooks can play anything like that then his versatility will be a tremendous asset to the defense. Being able to switch from LB to safety with some pass rush mixed in means that you can avoid mismatches and disguise coverages and blitzes.
For those worried about DL decommits
Posted by Tiger_x2 on 11/25/19 at 9:39 am
As of 11/25/19 we still have a full DL squad and edge rushers to add quality depth even before the hopeful commitments of Webb and Burch.
Jaquelin Roy 6-3.5/289
Demon Clowney 6-4/225
BJ Ojulari 6-3/224
Jacobian Guillory 6-2/331
Eric Taylor 6-4/280
Ali Gaye 6-6/270
LINK
Even without Webb and Burch this is a great DL haul, but with them it will be elite.
Alec Bryant is a great athlete but is more of a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB. The staff is making sure that the players with the most talent AND best fit Aranda's scheme end up tigers.
Hope this calms some nerves for those who haven't been following recruiting as closely and :geauxtigers:

I'm biased because I live in South Carolina and have to deal with S.Car fans, but Jake Bentley is a football throwing dumpster fire. No thank you.
re: Tua practice video

Tua 100% had the surgery. I know that for a fact. However, I will not be surprised at all if Dr. Cain shoots his ankle up with enough long lasting lidocaine before the game so that he can't feel a thing and plays at or above 70%.
Joe Burrow and Myles Brennan
Posted by Tiger_x2 on 9/1/19 at 8:37 am
Wow Burrow looked incredible last night. If he can keep up that level of play specifically with passing accuracy then LSU’s offense is going to give any defense in the country problems.
To me, it looked like Myles maybe was dealing with some nerves. His stats weren’t bad, but I thought his passes were a little on the wild side. Weather it’s nerves or lack of game reps, I’m hoping as the year progresses he looks more comfortable and accurate.
I know as far as SEC west schedules go, we have a solid slate ahead of us. Do you guys think that LSU can continue to pull away enough so that Brennan can get a meaningful number of reps against good teams? It’d be great to have a backup/future starter to feel great about late in the season.

You play Clemson every year. Stop vicariously living through the decent SEC teams and beat them yourself.
Even if A&M did beat Clemson are you really about to brag about being in the SEC when they nuke your arse at home?

Why Berry over Gaye? Gaye is a JuCo transfer so we would get less time out of him. Would it not make more sense to "scratch" him?
Theoretical final class if top realistic prospects want in

I know this is best case scenario and things will almost definitely not turn out this way, but what would our final class look like if all of the top uncommitted LSU targets (who we currently have a decent shot at) decided they want in? I don’t like the idea of “processing” good players who are all in on LSU for great players who take longer to decide, but some of these guys would be difficult to turn down. For reference, here are the commits and prospects I’m thinking of:
Commits:
1.Elias Ricks
2.Rakim Jarrett
3.Jermaine Burton
4.Jaquelin Roy
5.Kayshon Boutte
6.Antoine Sampah
7.Jordan Toles
8.Major Burns
9.Demon Clowney
10.Josh White
11.Max Johnson
12.Lorando Johnson
13.Alec Bryant
14.Eric Taylor
15.Patrick Jenkins
16.Jalen Lee
17.TJ Finley
18.Kole Taylor
19.CamRon Jackson
20.Jordan Berry
21.Marlon Martinez
22.Ali Gaye
Prospects:
1.Zachary Evans
2.Jacobian Guillory
3.Phillip Webb
4.Sedrick Van Pran
5.Marcus Dumervil
6.Ashaad Johnson
7.BJ Ojulari
8. Koy Moore
Who would the 25 be? If Evans doesn't commit does Ashaad take his place or do we take someone else? Also, if I have forgotten someone feel free to add them to your list. I just chose these names because I see them a lot on the recruiting page.

One of the biggest benefits of cheering for both means that I got to prematurely feel the joy of my team beating the crap out of bama during this tough streak. Can't wait for LSU to do it again soon! It's even better than you think
Curious about opinions on Clemson
Posted by Tiger_x2 on 7/30/19 at 8:41 am
I'm a life long LSU fan that currently attends Clemson headed into my senior year. When I first showed up to school, I didn't think there was any way I'd ever have as much love for Clemson FB as I did for LSU. I don't think Clemson will ever be my #1 team, but the culture here has completely convinced me to buy into what Clemson is selling. What gets me the most is the fact that Dabo is so easy to root for. He seems to be just as much in the business of building character in young men as he does in coaching them. I think that's one of the main reasons that so many highly ranked recruits are committing, and why his staff doesn't have crazy turnover like Saban.
I've seen some mixed opinions about Clemson in different threads, and I'm curious what the LSU community's straight up opinion is on Clemson. At the very least I think the majority of you think they are a lesser evil than bama, but I would love to hear more.
All that being said, I still bleed purple and gold and always will. Baton Rouge will always have the better death valley and :geauxtigers:

They should not be allowed in the playoffs for that crap.
After their performance last year you really think that? Alabama would have another title if it wasn't for Clemson. Instead Saban took his biggest L ever as bama's head coach. They can't help the ACC is down, and they are scheduling bigger out of conference games to make up for it (A&M this year). There is no doubt that an undefeated Clemson deserves a spot in the playoffs.
