re: VIDEO: NOPD officer caught smoking meth on patrol returned to duty after investigation
Posted by TD422 on 10/31/25 at 10:21 am to OysterPoBoy
There was a NOPD officer that got drunk and hit another vehicle on the CCC 20-something years back, killing the other driver...I knew the officer through a mutual friend. He struck me as a good guy that effed up royally. It's no excuse for what he did, but I don't believe he was charged or convicted of DWI prior to that. The fact that this Officer has a prior history, and command brushed it off...WOW. As has already been said, well, it's NOLA.

I get it now. Jon's your man crush.
He might be "better than that", but he still isn't a head coach anywhere. You seem to be convinced he's all that, but no one, in all of organized football, has hired him.
Was he "too good" to be an advisor for the Milano Seamen in 2024?

Dialogue. Great! Now discuss how "having to have a dialogue" with recruits and their families puts Gruden's recruiting effort behind other schools.
Look, I don't have anything against Gruden...but you and I don't get to just dismiss the 800 pound gorilla in the room. It's there, and it's real whether you and I like it or not. For that reason alone, "Thanks, Coach Gruden, for you're interest...but we're going in a different direction." You can beat your chest, or your dick, all you want about whether or not it's fair, right, or prudent...but you do have to acknowledge it. And if you're the LSU AD and say "We're going with Gruden", without addressing the issue, well, wow. Thank God you're not the AD.
ETA: I posted this in another thread...if that baggage isn't a big deal, why hasn't even lowly Division 27 Dildo Valley State hired him? WHY?
I agree with everything you said in your reply.
But the fact remains: whether the rumors were true, false, or exaggerated...it will hurt his ability to recruit, and retain, talent. Perception IS reality, especially to young men who thrive on the adulation that comes with recruiting.

That was the entirety of my point...some things money can't buy. Do you not think other schools would use that to steer recruits away from whatever school he represents? And can you imagine if a black player actually signed with him? He'd be taken to the woodshed on social media. Unless LSU was offering double NIL money, which we know ain't gonna happen.
Even mentioning his name in a search would be an abysmal failure on any administration's part. It just is what it is.

This. I posted this in another thread. Gruden will *NEVER* have another locker loom accept him because of the email scandal. Some things you just can't write checks for, there's no way back from that.

C'mon, Man...
The entirety of all football, college and pro, hasn't hired him for what reason, then? No matter if the whole email scandal was true, false, exaggerated, whatever - Jon Gruden will NEVER be able to walk into another locker room again and have the team buy in. Suffice it to say, some shite you just don't recover from.
I mean, the fact that even Dildo Valley State hasn't called to gauge his interest should be a huge red flag, right?

Pal, you're pushing an economic agenda that has failed dozens of times over...show us where free market economics have done the same. And let's discuss how the poor in capitalist countries compares to those in socialist / communist regimes. Bring facts, not ad hominems.

To Swagga's point...my daughters were attendees and counselors at the day camp that he brought all the drama to. Between attending and counseling, they were there for probably close to 15 years, and that day camp was awesome. Great family that ran it, never had any sort of issue there...for him to bring that stupidity, with that much disregard for the chaos he caused, it still pisses me off to this day. I'll repeat...a good solid arse kicking would do him some good.
re: What a tragedy to have a mentally ill TDS child

While I am not challenging your points, it's baffling to me how a child can get so radicalized that they prioritize politics over family. Politics won't comfort you when you're troubled. Politics won't make sure you have a roof over your head, or food on the table, hug you when you're down. We've lost our way when family is secondary to who you vote for. It's sad.

Good question. As a younger man, I was firmly in the camp of "I'll flip the switch!!!" I guess I'm just getting soft in my old(er) age. I'm not sure that killing someone does anything for me other than satisfying some primal urge for revenge. That, and I personally find it hard to truly forgive and then support the killing, it just doesn't line up for me. I do have to admit that I really don't fault anyone for supporting it, so I'm still working out some hardness in my heart on that end.
Or, to say it more succinctly: it's complicated.
ETA: to complicate my position even further, let's say someone is convicted and sentenced to life, not the death penalty...and tries to escape prison. I say drill that bitch between the eyes with a .454 Casull round.

Why must we demand a PUBLIC condemnation
Well, for me, it's because he's being publicly honored. There should be ZERO equivocation that the honor does not extend to his position on abortion. It smacks of moral relativism to elevate him in the name of the Church while he supports killing of babies. Maybe he can receive a Kennedy award or something equal while ignoring his abortion stance, but the Church isn't the right authority to be expected to whistle past the graveyard. Practically the ONLY authority on the planet that should act that way. The Church shouldn't be looking for some back slapping, they should LEAD BY THE WORD OF GOD.
