Those fault lines across South Louisiana are concerning. That’s the area where a large number of CO2 sequestration wells are planned.
Exxon recently started pumping CO2 in a sequestration well in Gillis, end of February.

“If CO2 leaked into ground water, all that would happen is that your water would be carbonated right from the tap!”
You wish. They’re talking about pumping metric tons of pressurized CO2 underground.CO2 in contact with water forms carbonic acid.
There are large collections of salt water brine lying under freshwater aquifers. If the pressurized CO2 leaks it can propel the brine into freshwater aquifers thereby making the water unusable.
What makes the process particularly dangerous in Louisiana is the fact there are thousands of abandoned orphan wells which will provide a conduit for CO2 to escape.
My position is if there is a 1% chance of the aquifers being ruined it’s not worth it,CO2 is not the existential threat to humanity that the climate activists say it is.
There are other uses for CO2 being developed that present no dangers.Belgium, for instance, has developed a process for making bricks.Raw bricks are placed in pressure chambers,CO2 is pumped in and in 48 hours the bricks are cured.
Northwestern University in Illinois is working on a process for curing concrete that looks promising.
I don’t know what you’re talking about me getting my information from KALB.I rarely ever watch KALB.

I’m really worried about the carbon capture and sequestration bullshite.
There is a high likelihood CO2 injected below our aquifers is going to leak and harm and/or ruin our source of water.
I’m 75 and been living here on my family estate for 26 years now.I’ve go a lot of money and time invested here,I don’t want to h ave to abandon my property and move to another state.Lose my water source,I see no other option.
The LSU PhD scientists say there is no danger of that.
The Titanic was the unsinkable ship, according to the experts.Didn’t complete its maiden voyage.
How many PhDs and scientists worked on the space shuttles. The crews of the the Challenger and Columbia obviously trusted them. How did that work out for them.
More recent - the Covid”vaccinations”.The experts assured us that if you took them you wouldn’t get Covid or pass on infections,it was safe and effective. How did that work out?
The powers running Louisiana are determined we are going to have CCS,all they can see is dollar signs. They are totally oblivious to the possibilty of it going sideways and the ramifiacations of that.

We had a ‘59 Bel Air like that, never was in a wreck.

Older I get the less I like it.Used to do a couple fish fries and couple crawfish boils a year, haven’t had one in a few years now.Actually,I don’t even care about eating boiled crawfish anymore.Wife makes a killer crawfish etouffee, like that.Much prefer boiled shrimp to crawfish.
Now it’s just Thanksgiving and Christmas have a house full, mostly famiy.

I lived in Bull Shoals,Arkansas a couple years, worked at hospital in Mountain Home.Lots of retirees in that area.
Crashing into buildings was a monthly occurrence.
Shortly before I left they built a new post office in Bull Shoals, first week it was open old lady ran through the front wall and ended up in the lobby.

I was stationed at Rota Spain 71-73,Polaris submarines were coming and going every few months.
Thing that ,freaked me out about subs was they went down in the Mediterranean for 2 months and they didn’t come up for any reason. If a sailors family member died,be it their wife or child, didn’t matter they didn’t tell them until they came back up at the end of the 2 month cruise.
I would have been a nervous wreck the 2 months worried something bad had happened back home.
It wasn’t unusual for them to bring a sailor off a sub on a stretcher with a straitjacket on when they came up in Rota.
It sets you up for a great career after getting out of the Navy but it wasn’t for me.

I think Dr. doing the surgery makes a lot of difference. My stepson had them out when he was about 12,was in misery for 7-8 days then started bleeding and had to be cauterized.
My 3 grandsons all had theirs done by Dr. Webb in Ellick,It was amazing how little pain they had and how fast they recovered compared to what their dad went through.
All were done with laser.
I had mine out when I was 14 the old way with the snare and a few stitches. It was the day before Thanksgiving.Thur. night I was eating turkey and dressing.Everybody had told me how awful it was going to be,
Stock up on Gatorade(not red),doesn’t burn when going down throat.

Cigar snobs.
The act of getting a cigar out of their humidor, cutting off the tip, light it up,inhale and get this look of ecstasy.lean back in their chair like they’re some kind of potentate.
Damn things stink
Dtr-in-law’s dad is a cigar snob. Also a pseudo-intellectual snob which makes him particularly annoying.

“ I thought the new guidance was not to use this method any longer”
You’re right, peroxide is a no-no and has been for a very one time.Peroxide is toxic to tissue ,does more harm than good.Slows down heaiing process and increases scarring.
Back to the Dachsunds.A,friend had one that he used for blood trailing deer.Dog was very good at finding deer that had run off, found quite a few deer for different people.
When he found a deer he was super protective of “his” deer and would attack anyone that tried to touch it,including his owner.
My friend brought welding gloves with him when they went looking for a deer, that was after he got bitten a couple of times.

“Nursing shortages will be a thing of the past with 24/7 robotics”
Anyone says this has obviously never worked as a nurse.People have no idea of the myriad of issues nurses have to deal with, esp.in Crtical Care settings,be it Surgical,Medical,Cardiac or Neuro ICUs.I’d like to see a robot that could deal with a confused pt.trying to get out of bed, pulling out their IV and /or Art line,NG tube and/or urinary catheters.Significant numbers of pts
are confused,or right on the edge be it from their age, lack of uninterrupted sleep, pain meds, their specific disease or injury or a combination of all of the above. The nurse has to get the pt.under control, apply or reapply restraints, reinsert IVs,and any tubes that may have been pulled out. Then change the sheets and clean up the mess such as blood, urine if they pull out their catheter, stomach contents if they pull out their NG tubes.
Pts on a diet need help with their meal trays, some have to be fed.Blood sugars have to be checked, dressings have to be changed.
I could see robots being helpful for turning pts or pulling them up in bed.Pt weights have increased exponentially last 30 years. Before about 1995 300 lb pts were uncommon, started seeiing a few, from 2000 until 2010 the numbers of 300- 400 lb’ers exploded, even occasional 500 lb’er.
That is a factor in the nursing shortages,I saw a lot of smart nurses quit due to injuries or the fact they couldn’t physically handle it.

Trackers in fillings. My initial reaction is that’s bullshite. But then thinking about what the Israelis did with the exploding pagers,I’m not so sure that it isn’t true.
The exploding pagers was brilliant.I can only imagine the outrage of the Iranian despots when Israel pulled that off.

I wouldn’t tell her you’re going to put the dog to sleep.Take it when she’s at school or somewhere.Tell her the dog was sick, you took it to the vet but they weren’t able to save it.Just like old people get sick,go to hospital but Drs aren’t able to save them.
I would also explain the dog was very old for a dog and just like old people there comes a time for them to die.
Get a new puppy and she’ll be fine.

Grandparent here.I’m a retired R.N.,wife is a N.P working part time.
17 year old grandson expressing interest in nursing.I’m talking up becoming
echocardiogram technician.Much better job,IMO.Decent pay, don’t work nights, weekends or holidays( would be on rotating call).Don’t have to deal with bedpans, diarrhea and all the other unpleasntries nurses have to deal with.
Very interesting job,I always liked to watch them doing scans when I was able.
I can very well see AI doing interpretation of the scans rather than a cardiologist but I think it will always require a human to actually do the echo.
PA would also be a good field.
